A year ago I took part in a tv competition in Quebec called Revolution and I lasted a big total of two episodes aha

First round I choreographed a solo that reversed itself entirely half way through.

Second round I choose to do an improvisation because it was really important to me to remind all types of audiences that dancers are not just there to do tricks. They are artists! Capable of creating worlds in an instant, crafting in the present moment for all eyes to wonder. I asked one judge to choose a theme (last minute if my life), another to choose an emotion (worry) and the final one to choose a song( La chambre jaune by Klo Pegeg). I performed and improv with these three parameters right then and there, with no mental preparation time. I had so much fun living this moment on stage, but I was put in ‘danger’.

That same evening I then had to ‘dance for my life’ to fight for my chance to stay. I did a cute cyber woman moment with this hot unitard made for surfers. I gave some sass, a little too much energy and really all that I had left to give after flying in from Europe the night before.

I was eliminated following these two numbers 🥂

I said goodbye to the tv fantasy and went back to my normal (not so normal) life as a contemporary dancer. I kept with me the cutest footage from grand-mother, and thats the best gift I could have received from this experience.

After touring to South Korea with NDT2 (already) 7 years ago, I had a strong feeling that I must come back to this country, something was calling me. Now I’m just back from my fourth South Korean trip… this one was to perform and teach at the Rise Dance Festival , an event I initiated, conceptualized and co-curated in collaboration with .

For the occasion, I brought back together on stage ex-colleagues and dear friends of mine. It made my heart melt to watch them from the wings perform these pieces that belong to our commun past, but suit them so incredibly well in the maturity they have grown into. I’m greatful to be surrounded by such impeccable artists and humans.

And I couldn’t have done this without them. Because from the outside it just looks like fun and games, but navigating the language and cultural barrior when organizing such a big project has been one of the most challenging endeavors I’ve thrown myself into. Tbh I almost lost my sanity, but it was worth it to see my buddies shine so bright on stage and in the streets of Seoul.

Thank you Fay, Adam, Aya, Alex and Toon for following me in my crazy dreams. It still feels surreal to have been able to share the stage with all of you again.

I’m so grateful for my time in these mountains. These mountains that have been our home for the last weeks. These mountains that have reminded us of our truths, that have whispered to our eyes the mysteries that will keep us looking, and that have ripped us open so that we can truly feel that it’s all within us.

Thank you for being home.
Thank you .art for bringing me home, over and over. Thank you for the endless tenderness. Thank you Rae for being everything I needed.

Last night wrapped up my Cacti season 🌵!!! It brought me to 3 companies in 3 months.

You don’t get much footage of yourself as a stager, so please enjoy little snippets of some moments that made my heart squeek along the way. I’m so greatful for this job that has found me, and in which I keep discovering myself through the years. It’s for me a research of how to prioritize humanity, no matter the challenges that arise when working in the complex machinery of an institution.

For those who don’t know what a ‘stager’ does… I’m basically a minion of a choreographer, in my case, of . He sends me off to different opera houses on his behalf to put back on stage existing works created by himself. Officially that means… I have to do casting, teach all the material, coach the dancers to ease them in a new movement language, direct rehearsals for weeks, direct the musicians (even if my only music vocabulary is pling and plong), facilitate the transition to stage, overlook that the set and lights are at their best, that the technicians hit the right cues… Basically make sure the work corresponds to his intended original vision. And… Unofficially, my job is to ignite new curiosity and passion in the dancers, to make them realize that their individual inner possibilities are endless, and to make them see and trust how they’ve transformed through the work and process so that they are free to be the best version of themselves on stage.

So basically my job is to give love and care. And it feels effortless to do so when I get to meet and be surrounded with so many beautiful souls. Okay hi takkyy much, but it’s literally how I feel. I’m overwhelmed with all the genuine connections I’ve made through my Cacti endeavors of the past months. Thank you to all of you that I’ve crossed paths with. Il mio cuore batte di più per la mia squadra della Roma. Vi amo ragazzi.
