The Performing Art Program of International Centre of the Lomonosov Moscow State University has been developed in cooperation with Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute at the State Academic Vakhtangov Theatre. The course is meant for those actors and stage directors who wish to broaden their theoretical background and perfect their acting or directing skills taking benefit of the Russian theatre schoo
l achievement. During the whole course of studies the students receive advanced English and French language tuition pursuant to the teaching methods developed in cooperation with the respective MGIMO foreign language departments. As of the first year the students work on the drama materials in a foreign language to prepare for their graduation repertoire including performances in Russian, English and French. Owing to advanced professionally-oriented foreign language tuition as of the third year, a graduate, being fluent in English and French, will acquire an excellent background for professional advancement not only in Russia but abroad. In 2012 International Centre of the Lomonosov Moscow State University opened the first Russian Student Theatre in Europe. The opening was marked by the first night of “Les contes de la rue Broca” after the French writer Pierre Gripari. The Russian actors performed it in French on the stage of the popular Genevan Carouge theatre. Now, the first Russian Tunnel theatre has a stage of its own where its actors can rehearse new performances in the Russian, English or French language. This is the first Russian theatre, which is permanently based in Europe.
