For the first time in esport’s history, a national federation starts a national league on… national games! Indeed, esports video games are generally produced by large American or Asian companies. The Swiss Esports Federation wanted to pay tribute to small local creators by organising a national competition, exclusively for “made in Switzerland” games .
The first season of the Swiss Made Games League will take place between April and December 2018, with a dozen of meetings all over the Swiss territory. The reward is one Bitcoin (sponsored by BITY), shared between the best players of the competition!
For this first edition, the tournament is all about the Swiss game RETIMED, made by the developer studio Maniax from Zürich. Other games/disciplines will join the tournament in future years.
The league is organised in several “Minors”, small stages, as well as in three “Majors”, big stages organised during important gaming events in Switzerland. The first Minors will take place in Geneva, Zürich, Chablais and Arbon. Other Minors will be announced at a later date. The Majors will take place during Numerik Games in Yverdon-les-bains, the Zurich Game Show in Zurich and finally during HeroFest in Bern.
