For this year‘s edition of , we’ll present a sumptuous solo exhibition by Constanza Camila Kramer Garfias.

Constanza, (b. 1988 Viña del Mar, Chile) is a Chilean, Munich-based artist whose practice centers on a critical engagement with textiles as both medium and subject, reflecting her bicultural background and dialogue with postcolonial theory. Rooted in a structural and historical examination of looms and weaving technologies, her approach pushes their algorithmic boundaries with experimental deconstruction as a point of departure.

Garfias’ work is in public collections at the Nike (London, UK), Kunstmuseum Bern (Bern, Switzerland); Anja and Matthias Ottmann Collection (Munich, Germany); Cash App Collection (St. Louis, MO & Philadelphia, PA, USA); Anne-Céline and Pierre Donnersberg Collection (Paris, France); and the Buchberger Collection (Munich, Germany). She has participated in institutional exhibitions at the American Tapestry Alliance at The Richard Peeler Art Center/DePauw University (Greencastle, IN, USA); Galerie der Künstler*innen (Munich, Germany); and Museum für Gestaltung (Zürich, Switzerland) and Takaoka Art Museum (Takaoka, Japan).

She and her work have been profiled in Harper’s Bazaar, Architectural Digest, Art and America’s New Talent Issue, ARTnews, Artsy, Flair Magazine, Cosmopolitan Germany, and more.

You can currently see her solo exhibition, ‘Woven Maps, Woven Lands’ at the Rosewood Hotel Munich , inaugurating the hotel’s Staircase Gallery exhibition series. Curated by Yara Sonseca Mas

Eiscreme, 2026
Discontinued Ott-Freezer soft serve ice cream machine owned by gallerists (purchased for commercial use)
56.7 x 35 x 25.6 (144 x 89 x 65 cm)

During the development of ‘sunsetting’, the gallery purchased a discontinued fixer-upper soft serve machine with the intention of standing up an auxiliary business in the form of an ice cream shop along the Aare in Bern with the goal of generating passive income. While undergoing repairs, the machine was intercepted to be exhibited as a sculpture in this exhibition. Upon the closing of the exhibition, the machine will re-enter the repair process with the anticipation of being operational in 2027

The role of the machine in shoring up the gallery’s financial infrastructure, here, displaces the primary function of the machine of producing soft serve. However, the fact of startup and operation costs (including the purchase of the machine and the labor associated with repairing it), too, depend on the sustained operation and success of the gallery.

With no explicit retail price, the promise of future earnings generated with the machine (more than likely) supplant the potential earnings from the exhibition of the machine as sculpture. Its shifting context remains within the orbit and oversight of the gallery, where its potential earning power oscillates between poles of potential and instability.

“Eiscreme” is on view in ‘sunsetting’ at Gallery Kendra Jayne Patrick () in Bern.

We’re delighted to share some images from ‘Woven Maps, Woven Lands’ – a solo show by Constanza Camila Kramer Garfias at Rosewood Munich curated by Yara Sonseca .

This is the first show at the hotel’s Staircase Gallery. It explores how early Western representations have shaped perceptions of cultures and regions, reinterpreting historical archives through contemporary textile practice. Suspended throughout the hotel’s new Staircase Gallery, large-scale Jacquard weavings and embroidered works invite viewers to reflect on identity, memory, and the narratives embedded in colonial image-making.

The exhibition runs through October 12.
