DoKomi Recap 🌟
First of all, thank you all who were kind enough to visit my booth and make my day! It’s been a crazy weekend indeed…
I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who remembered me from previous ( and first) year! And I had only a small table with half the booth setup since, a-hem, I wasn’t aware that DoKomi was a big convention 😂 Yes, I confess that I applied to DoKomi last year only because a friend was going and half-joking asked if I would be going with him. II learned the size of the thing literally two weeks before the show during a casual conversation with a booth neighbor who gawked at that I got a spot in the first place, 🤣
Despite being wiped out of my critical stock less than a week before in Fantasy Basel 2025 (for me which is even busier than even DoKomi), having 3 work days with little rest (remember, I have to restock through manual labor 😅).
I love the fact that I get a side by side double table in the crafters section compared to artist alley where it would be a corner booth instead. However I later realized that people assumed that since I was in the crafter alley, my showcase was not my handwork unless I explicitly pointed it out to each visitor individually (most people simply don’t read the signs). That was a bit frustrating.
All in all, it was a great time and I managed to survive the first half of the year, through six conventions, moving my atelier - which cost me two months - and another month of unpleasant stuff which kept me from producing at all…
Now that my next events start in August, I’ll be taking a little time off, restock and hopefully, finally spare some time to come up with some more major new creations which I haven’t been able to in a long time.
I have plenty of major ideas in my idea but unfortunately this is a one-man-show, things take a lot of time to implement if I can get it done at all in the first place, so I won’t even mention anymore stuff like that I’d like to be posting on social media etc. since I simply don’t have enough mental, emotional and physical resources for those and made my peace with it 😅
