We're so delighted to introduce Fabio Francisco Freire! He is a Brazilian-Swiss musician, composer, and percussionist whose work blends Afro-Brazilian rhythms with European musical influences. Based in Basel, he performs internationally and is a founding member of the Ignis Quartet, known for its rich fusion of traditional and contemporary sound.
A long-time part of Basel’s artistic scene, Fabio leads percussion and rhythm courses — including Barracuda Brasileira at the Musik-Akademie Basel — where he shares his deep connection to rhythm, community, and cultural exchange.
In his teaching, Fabio brings energy, precision, and joy to the studio.
His classes invite dancers and musicians alike to explore rhythm not just as sound, but as movement, dialogue, and expression.
