After a small summer hiatus, I’m back with renewed energy and inspiration! I was lucky enough to spend a few days in New York by myself, where I filled my art cup all the way up. I was anxious about visisting the US in this moment, when creativity and artistic voices are being stifled at all costs, and was so relieved and inspired by the artists who are still doing the important work.
Highlights were Amy Sherald (including the inconic Statue of Liberty work posted here for which her show was cancelled in DC), and Christine Sun Kim at the Whitney; Seth Price at 15 Orient (one of the coolest art spaces I’ve visiting in NYC); Kati Heck at Sadie Coles HQ; and the astonishing work of Jack Whitten at MoMA. 🔥

It took some time to process and go through all of my photos from Milan Design Week in April, which was one of the most inspiring and boundary-blurring creative events I’ve attended in a while. Designers there used off-spaces like abandoned factories, bank vaults, and neglected palazzos in ways that were so poignant and beautiful. With my besties from as my guides, we pounded the pavement for 10-12 hours per day, finding inspiration in Milan’s vernacular architecture along the way. Looking forward to creative projects involving contemporary art + design with these folks, hopefully coming to Basel soon! 🌟

It’s a new year! 🌟 But first I’m Catching up on a few End-of-2024 highlights…
➡️Sophie Jung and Clare Godwin at , considering the themes of re-use of things old and discarded into reborn sculptural forms. Made especially poignant with a very pregnant Sophie! 💫
➡️ Paula Rego at gave me a visceral reaction I hadn’t experienced in a while. Flesh and pain rendered in paint and fabric with a sensitivity and brutality that I can’t stop thinking about.
➡️ And last but certainly not least, the work of Maude Léonard-Contant, a Canadian artist living/working in Basel, included in Regionale 25. I was spellbound and inspired by her sculptures that blurred the boundaries between living organisms, furniture, and fe**sh objects. It’s good to be back.
