🍁 Jason O'Brien is a Toronto-based visual artist celebrated for his soulful, emotionally resonant creations. Deeply inspired by Black-Afrocentric culture, fashion, and pop culture, O'Brien crafts empowering subjects that examine themes of resilience, identity, and personal strength.

💁🏾‍♀️ 'Fly Girl' is a visual celebration of Black female empowerment and creative energy—all at high vibrancy. The main character is a living, breathing masterpiece of self-expression. Her fashion is a bold, rhythmic design—a vibrant patchwork jacket in electric pinks, teals and yellows, with a gold chain and oversized round glasses. Cosmic crowns of shimmering, jewel-toned pink afro puffs sit against a cloud-filled sky, and delicate butterflies on her shoulders symbolize transformation and breaking barriers. With a stylized city skyline in the background, she unapologetically takes up her space, exuding the confidence of a woman who sees the whole world as her stage.

🎓 Working in both digital media and traditional acrylics, O'Brien has spent years establishing a prominent fine art practice in Toronto, using his work to bridge the gap between historic representation and contemporary style.

🎨 O’Brien’s style seamlessly merges digital illustration with a rich, painterly texture. Utilizing Procreate, he applies layers of light and color that mimic traditional glazes, resulting in works defined by bold color contrasts, heroic scale, and a focus on inner beauty.

🖌️ Alongside his digital masterpieces, Jason produces a popular collection of limited-edition giclée prints, hand-signed canvas reproductions, and customized lifestyle art products through his online gallery, ensuring his work is globally accessible.

🌎 O'Brien's evocative works are held in numerous private collections across North America and are frequently exhibited in community-focused galleries throughout Ontario.

📷
🎨 Thomas John Thomson was born on August 5th, 1877 in Claremont Ontario.
🍁Tom Thomson was not a member of the Group of Seven, although he was closely associated with the artists in the group before he died.
👨‍🎨 When Thomson took his first visit to Algonquin Park in 1912, he fell in love with the beauty of the nature around him. He began to paint scenes from the park, and would often disappear for days into the park to paint a beautiful scene he had found. He produced many small oil sketches in the park, as they were easy to carry around; many of these sketches can still be seen at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
🛶 On July 8, 1917, Thomson disappeared during a canoeing trip on Canoe Lake. His upturned canoe was spotted later in the afternoon, and his body was discovered in the lake eight days later. It was noted that he had a four-inch cut on his right temple and had bled from his right ear. The cause of death was officially determined to be "accidental drowning".
🖌️ During his life he sold few paintings, however those he did sell paved the way for future exhibitions after his death. One such exhibition in London England helped to bring international attention to Thomson’s work. Today his work continues to grow even more valuable; in 2002 the National Gallery of Canada had a major exhibition of his work.
