Hey! Hello :) Remember me? We moved off-grid 11 months ago. This is how far I've gotten with setting up my egging room. It's been a lot. Learning systems, working full time plus running a short term rental, health issues, and caring for two senior dogs. I'm posting this because I'm hoping you will help keep me in check. I can't go another winter without writing pysanky. We are in full summer right now so I'm giving myself some grace but if you don't see me post any eggs by the end of October (Um, actually let's say November because setting up will take a while) CHECK ME. I need to write but I'm not great at putting my needs first. I could use a reminder from you. ❤️

It was such a great Thursday afternoon with my coworkers! I had the pleasure of hosting a pysanky workshop at my home for a team building exercise. Here is a photo of our workstation and their finished pysanky. I used a preset design as we didn't have a lot of time. I wish I could show you the pictures of them working but I didn't ask them if I could post their faces. They all looked like they were enjoying themselves and I feel very proud to be able to share this with them.

It's been way too long since I've taught a workshop. I'm up late getting ready to host my coworkers for a team building exercise tomorrow. I haven't touched a kistka for over a year. Wish me luck!

Did you know that pysanka dye can be used for dying fish skin leather? I recently learned this when a local reached out to purchase some dye for that purpose. Now that I'm moving, I did not want to transport 90+ dyes so I donated them to her. I can't wait to see what she makes with them! I'll wash these containers up and make up new dyes once I'm settled. I will not be mixing this many though.

This is Judith. She's the reason why I started selling my work. I had never met her in person (yet), but we became Facebook friends and when she would see me post some of my pysanky she would send me a message always encouraging me to sell them. Eventually I decided to try it and she continued to be supportive with encouragement but also by buying several of my larger pieces. She ended up being the owner of some of my favorite creations and I loved knowing they were treasured in her home amoung all her other treasures. And she had lots of other treasures! Judith passed a little while ago and I hear her pysanky have been gifted. I love that they will bring some joy to more people but I often wonder what became of her writings as well. Once I started teaching, she came to a few of my workshops. This travlenka is her work. It was several years ago when she made this but as I scrolled through all the photos I knew exactly which one was hers. She was a very special woman and I am grateful she sent me that friend request years ago. Thank you, Judith ❤️

Do you ever wonder where I buy the majority of my eggs from? This place has every type of egg you can think of. Living in the north made it really difficult to get anything other than store bought chicken eggs. This shop made it so easy for me now. Susan drives to many different farms, hand picks the best eggs, then does all the cleaning. I know how much work it is and I'm amazed at the selection and prices. She also took the time to teach me how she does it so at least I can do the chicken ones myself. She is a true gem to pysanky and egg art! It's been a busy week for Frisky Kistky. I'm so happy with how many beginner kits and supplies went out this year because that means there are more writers, and that's the reason I started Frisky Kistky. If you bought a kit or any supplies from me this year or in the past, I'd love to see some photos of your work. It makes me so happy to see people continue, reconnect, or begin their pysanka adventure.
I ended the weekend with some relaxing writing of my own along with other writers from around the world for Pysanky for Ukraine Day. Big thanks to Kathy from Ukrainian EggCessories for giving us all this opportunity to connect and reflect. Slava Ukraini!
