Saxifrage Studio Growing up in Yellowknife equipped Tracey Breitbach with a detailed knowledge of the sub-arctic textures represented in her acrylic paintings.

Tracey founded Saxifrage studio in 2013, since then she has aspired to make her studio a place of magic, inspiration and learning for kids and adults of all ages. From an early age, she was fascinated by the sub-arctic terrain that surrounded her. Tracey was particularly captivated by the ancient rocky hills she explored as a child, and the small, delicate life that lay underfoot. Her style has be

en described as ‘Magnifying Minutia.’ Her paintings often include close-up and enlarged views of lichen, cracked, mottled patterns found in Canadian Shield rock, and the sub-arctic flora that exists around her. Tracey received her formal training from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, B.C, where she studied painting. She then went on to explore other avenues, earning an Interdisciplinary fine arts degree at Concordia University in Montreal, specializing in Theatre and Multimedia design."
