Thank you for joining us for one of the most amazing events at this year’s NWT Culinary Festival — our Brown Bag Lunch!

We didn’t just give away 200 free lunches. We brought people together with local producers, local food, and the stories and history behind the ingredients that make Northern food so special. 🌿🐟

Every bag was filled with locally sourced ingredients:

It was a simple lunch with a much bigger story — a taste of the NWT, made possible by the people who grow, harvest, make, and share food right here at home. ❤️

🎉 FEASTival Weekend — What a Celebration! 🎉

What a weekend! FEASTival on 50th Street was full of delicious food, great music, dancing, laughter, and so many happy faces. ❤️

From incredible local flavours and talented performers to fun activities, community gatherings, and plenty of good food, we had an amazing time celebrating the NWT Culinary Festival together.

Thank you to everyone who came out, danced, ate, laughed, performed, volunteered, cooked, served, and helped make the weekend so special.

We had SO much fun! And we hope you did too. 🌟

GLOBAL BITES: A Celebration of Culinary Diversity ✨🌍

One table. Many cultures. So many incredible flavours! ❤️

At this year’s NWT Culinary Festival, Global Bites brought Yellowknife’s diverse food community together for an unforgettable al fresco communal dinner. Guests gathered around the table to taste their way around the world while celebrating the incredible restaurants and chefs that make our community so diverse.

🇮🇳 Pani Puri — Asian Grocery YK
Crisp semolina shells, chickpeas & spiced mint water.

🇯🇵 Aburi Salmon Nigiri — Sushi Café
Flame-seared salmon, sushi rice, sweet soy glaze, scallions & fish roe.

🌍 Golden Fried Plantain — My African Cuisine
A classic African street food favourite with caramelized, golden plantains.

🇨🇳 Zhejiangmian Noodles — Kingpin Bowling Centre
Hand-cut wheat noodles, fermented soybean sauce & ground pork.

🇵🇭🇲🇽 Chicken Adobo Mini Taco — Lolo Demet’s
Filipino-Mexican fusion with tender chicken adobo, crispy garlic fried rice & fresh garnish.

🇲🇽 Sope de Birria Tart — Copperhouse / Casa de Cobre
Slow-braised beef birria, refried beans, cotija, sour cream & crisp corn tart.

🇿🇦🇳🇬 Boerwors & Jollof Rice — The Hidden Gem
House-crafted sausage served with fragrant, spiced jollof rice.

🇧🇷 Brigadeiro — Soso Sweet
Brazil’s iconic chocolate confection made with condensed milk, cocoa & butter, hand-rolled and coated in chocolate sprinkles—the perfect sweet ending to the evening. 🍫

From India to Japan, Africa, China, the Philippines, Mexico, Brazil, and beyond, every plate brought a different story and flavour to the table.

Global Bites was more than dinner—it was a celebration of the cultures, people, and culinary traditions that make Yellowknife such a vibrant Northern community. 🌎❤️

🌿 From the Land and Lake 🌿

A celebration of Indigenous food, culture, and the flavours of the North

One of the highlights of the 2026 NWT Culinary Festival was From the Land and Lake, featuring guest chefs Jenni Lessard and Robin Wasicuna.

Inspired by their Indigenous heritage and the incredible ingredients of the North, they created a menu that brought traditional foods and ancient practices into a modern culinary experience.

Between courses, guests discovered the stories, traditions, and connections behind the dishes, while learning how Indigenous cuisine continues to evolve and grow.

From the land, the lake, the forest, and the hands of those who carry these traditions forward, every course told a story.

It was more than a dinner—it was a gift from Mother Earth, shared through food, culture, and connection. 🌿🔥

CH*****NE, SECRETS & SIN 🥂

Some secrets are better left in the dark…

Behind the doors of our 1920s Speakeasy, the ch*****ne was flowing, the jazz was playing, and everyone had a secret. 🎷🖤

Then… someone turned up dead. 💀

Suddenly, every guest became a suspect. Between courses of an incredible period-inspired dinner, clues appeared, stories unraveled, and everyone tried to answer one question:

Who did it? 🔎

And as if the evening wasn’t sinful enough, the incredible Cherie Coquette Chérie Coquette from Whitehorse took the stage for a captivating burlesque performance. 💃✨

Murder. Mystery. Ch*****ne. Secrets. Incredible food.
One unforgettable night at the NWT Culinary Festival.

As the sun set over Yellowknife, guests stepped into a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure where every course was a surprise and every bite celebrated the incredible flavours of the North.

From exceptional local chefs to a mystery menu in a hidden location, Taste the Unexpected was more than dinner—it was an experience filled with discovery, creativity, and unforgettable memories.
