Hear! Here! Society presents pianist Cindy Thong
“That is one good thing about this world…there are always sure to be more springs.”
-from Anne of Avonlea by L M Montgomery
After this last Winter and early Spring, we are all happy with the arrival, albeit slow arrival, of Spring. Spring brings to our lives a playful and hopeful energy with its longer, warmer days. Suddenly our drab wintry surroundings become a brilliant green accompanied by burst of colors as trees and Spring flowers blossom. Spring is synonymous with new beginnings and possibilities and a perfect time for the return of pianist Cindy Thong to our area to present her Romantic repertoire of compositions by Brahms, Schumann, Chopin and Liszt.
Cindy Thong leads a multifaceted career as performer, educator, and researcher. She has appeared across Canada and throughout Europe and has been featured at major festivals as the Orford Music Festival, the Banff Arts Centre, the Gijón International Piano Festival, and the Euro Music Festival. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Montréal where she received the Prix d’interprétation en piano and advanced degrees from the Haute École de Musique de Genève and the University of Montréal. Thong serves on the faculty of Acadia University and the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts and is Artistic Director of the Acadia Piano Intensive program.
