Last Friday I lost my #1 fan.

Anyone who knows me or knew my dad knows the amazing supportive relationship we had. My dad always told me that I was destined for great things and that I am a bird that cannot be caged. 🐦

Well now you are the free bird dad. Two years of fighting cancer and you took your final flight. Live beyond this world pain free and watch over all of us. You were and always will be the "Ray"s of sunshine in my life 🌞 even on a cloudy day 🌤

I will go on living my life to the fullest like I promised you. No one will ever stand in my way... especially me. You taught me that. When life is short and fleeting every day counts. So I will continue to...

Meet Pam — the newest instructor joining the Make It Sew team! ✂️🧵

Many of you know Pam as one of Brittany’s students, and now she’s stepping into the classroom to teach her very own workshop: Learn to Sew: Pants with Pam 👖✨

Pam first learned to sew from her grandma, who taught her the fundamentals and inspired her love for creating by hand. In recent years, creators on TikTok and online sewing communities reignited her passion for sewing, especially upcycling and working with thrifted materials.

She believes sewing is both a creative outlet and a way to live more sustainably, and she’s excited to help others create garments that are functional, comfortable, stylish, and uniquely their own.

We are so proud to watch one of our students grow into an instructor and share her passion with our sewing community. 💛

Thank you so much to the Laureate Academy for having us out to teach 17 Grade 9 and 10 students how to sew some silly geese! They were patient, fun, creative, and so ready to learn. The students and I had sew much fun, and I can’t wait to come back and teach more workshops in the future.

I’m absolutely blown away by their creativity and enthusiasm. A huge thank you as well to the amazing staff for being so welcoming and for all the extra helping hands throughout the day.

Moments like these remind me that dreams really do come true 🪿🧵✨

What an amazing day yesterday! Thank you to the Louis Riel School Division for inviting Make It Sew out to your Land Based Learning Community Event.

Over 600 kids made their way through The Forks and all the incredible booths, learning, creating, and connecting with community. Our booth focused on sustainability through sewing, where students from Grades 4–12 learned basic hand-sewing techniques by creating their own little pocket monsters.

Sorry not sorry… our booth was a popular one! Mission complete 💚🪡

We will be closed this Mother’s Day weekend to spend time with the people we love most. 💐

I want to take a moment to say thank you to all the mothers in my life who have supported me throughout my journey. Thank you for teaching me so many of the skills I carry with me every day and for continuing to teach and inspire me.

Thank you to my kids for making me a mom, for inspiring me endlessly, and for keeping me going even on the hardest days. And thank you to my mom for always believing in me, supporting my dreams, and helping shape the person I am today.

Wishing all the moms, grandmas, stepmoms, mother figures, and caregivers a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend. ❤️

What is even my LIFE RIGHT NOW?! 🫣😁

These past two weeks have been nothing but life changing!

I have worked my whole life for moments like this... and for someone who NEVER stops talking... I'm speechless 😶

I don't know who nominated me, but I am BEYOND HONORED 🥰

Everything I do is for you 🫶

✨️ I want to be the role model that little girls can look up to.

✨️ I want to be the teacher that taught me.

✨️ I want to be the safe space that you can come to and let it out and have fun.

✨️ I want to be your inspiration and encouragement.

✨️ I want to be the smile on your face if you're having a bad day and forget about whatever it was because we can "let it sew"

✨️ And most of all... I want to be your confidence... because that takes a lot to build up. And it starts with one person 🥰
