It’s happening! NMS is excited to launch their first event since the pandemic. It’s been quite the break and we are stoked for this event! The Pink Party will showcase live music from .resilience.music and and a fashion show featuring Adrienne Aliyak also known as Tulu on TikTok.
•MackSickz is an Indigenous hip hop artist out of Fort Francis, ON. He quickly became a TikTok sensation by taking popular songs and trends, Indigenizing sounds with humour we hear in our family circles or on the rez. He recently released the sing Ride featuring Merkules and featured on ‘9 to 5’ on The Resilience project both are available on all digital platforms.
•Fawn Wood is bracing the scene with her melodic, powerful voice. She is well known for her music that represents her traditional lineage of Plains Cree, Whoonok and Stlatilimx. Fawn also received a Juno Nomination for Indigenous Artists of the Year and released the album Kakike in 2021. Congratulations Fawn Wood!
•The Resilience is duo Hellnback and Lisa Muswagon. Each are independent artists who recently came together to create hip hop music with indigenous flavour. The single Penimitawe Ota will be the driving force behind the new City of Winnipeg logo they will unveil June 2022. Their song ‘Journey’ is added to rallies and stations across the nation to bring amplify the issues indigenous people face today.
