St. Norbert Arts Centre is looking for an Arts Centre Coordinator to join our team.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, creative and community-minded: a natural connector who can keep the day-to-day details moving while also seeing opportunities to strengthen our programming, partnerships and community.

This hands-on role includes communications and marketing, fundraising and sponsorship, events and programming, administration, rentals, and community relationships.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who believes a community arts centre is built through people, creativity, and relationships.

Full Moon Ceremony at SNAC 🌕

On August 27, we welcome community to gather around the sacred fire on the Ceremonial Ground at the St. Norbert Arts Centre.

Join Elder Debbie Cielen, “Good Talking Turtle,” for an evening of connection to the land, the spirit world and our ancestors.

Guests are welcome to bring a drum or rattle and something to share for the feast. Those who identify as women are encouraged to wear a long skirt.

You shared your gardens with ours. 💚🌱

When we asked our community for plants, you showed up.

Neighbours and friends of SNAC donated perennials from their own gardens — sharing something they had grown and cared for so that our gardens could grow too.

Those plants are now taking root at SNAC, each one becoming part of a garden that is being shaped by many hands and shared by an entire community.

And we’re still growing — with more garden beds to create, we’re welcoming more plants and more people to help us bring them to life.

Together with Seeds Of Life Alliance , our Garden Club is learning that growing a healthy garden is about more than planting flowers or pulling weeds. We’re learning to observe the land, work with it and understand the relationships already growing within it.

Which plants support pollinators? Which improve the soil or create habitat? Why does one plant thrive while another struggles? How can what we plant today help create a healthier, more resilient garden tomorrow?

A healthy garden is an ecosystem of relationships — different plants, different strengths, each contributing something to the whole.

And perhaps that’s what our community has already shown us.

Some donated a plant. Some brought their knowledge. Some gave their time. Some came ready to learn.

Together, we’re growing something none of us could grow alone. ✨

🌿 Want to get your hands in the dirt? Garden Club meets every second Wednesday, and everyone is welcome. No experience necessary.

🌿 Imagine a garden grown by an entire community.

A hosta from one neighbour.
A fern from another.
A perennial passed from one garden to the next.

Each plant carrying a little piece of where it came from — the garden it once called home and the hands that cared for it.

On Wednesday, August 12, we’re beginning to transform one of SNAC’s shaded spaces into a peaceful woodland garden, and we’d love your help.

Led by Seeds Of Life Alliance Garden Club brings permaculture into practice through learning, working with the land and growing together.

🌱 Have a healthy shade-loving perennial ready to be divided? Send us a message or bring it with you to Garden Club, August 12 from 6–8 PM.

Together, we’re growing a living legacy at SNAC — and a place where everyone is welcome.

We are excited to share this beautiful reel captured by 13-year-old Cadence, who spotted monarch butterflies dancing through the gardens at the St. Norbert Arts Centre.

Her voiceover stopped us in our tracks:

“A butterfly doesn’t know who planted the flowers.
It doesn’t know who watered the gardens.
It simply knows it has found a place to rest, feed, and continue its journey.”

And perhaps that is the story of SNAC, too.

Long before there was an Arts Centre or monastery, Indigenous Peoples gathered on this land in ceremony, connection and community. A sacred bison rubbing stone remains here today, a reminder of the generations who gathered on and cared for this land.

Later, in the 1800 century the Trappist monks welcomed travellers into their Guest House — the very building SNAC calls home today.

Generations have changed, but something has remained:

A place to gather. A place to create. A place to land. A place to feel welcome.

Welcome is more than a greeting at SNAC. It’s part of our legacy — and the future we’re growing together.

Last week’s storm left its mark on the St. Norbert Arts Centre when one of our mature maple trees was badly split, leaving it unsafe and beyond saving.

Today, we were reminded of the strength of community.

After learning what had happened, Ron Paul Garden Centre, generously arranged and donated the removal of the tree by Timberland Tree Service . Their skilled crew carefully removed the damaged tree, ensuring the site was safe for everyone who visits the Arts Centre.

During the work, Curtis and Naomi made a to***co offering in gratitude for the life of the tree and for all that it had given. It was a quiet moment that reminded us of the importance of giving thanks and caring for the land with respect. The tree was then chipped so it can be returned to our gardens, allowing it to continue giving back by nourishing the land where it stood.

This is what community looks like.

A community coming together.

Local businesses giving back.

A tree continuing its journey by nurturing new growth.

Our heartfelt thanks to Ron Paul Garden Centre, for making this generous act possible.

Moments like these remind us that the St. Norbert Arts Centre is more than a place; it is a community. When neighbours, local businesses, and volunteers come together to care for this special place, they help ensure it continues to grow, inspire, and connect people for generations to come.

Join us for Emancipation Day at the St. Norbert Arts Centre as we gather in community for a meaningful celebration of history, culture, resilience, and achievement.

Wednesday, July 29th, the SNAC Garden Club, in partnership with Seeds Of Life Alliance, will be planting a fruit tree as part of our ongoing journey to create a thriving, sustainable garden space.

It’s slow tonight… but tomorrow our little corner of St. Norbert will be buzzing as we welcome the CTV Morning Live team from 6–9 AM to showcase our Summer Kids Camp.

Our amazing camp counsellors and instructors will be sharing the creativity, care, and behind-the-scenes magic that goes into creating memorable camp experiences at St. Norbert Arts Centre. 🎨🌿
