Who We Are

The foundation of Exhale Dance Studio’s approach to education is built on the belief that all children thrive in an environment of learning and positivity. We are proud to offer a full range of curricula for all of our classes!

Exhale’s programs for young dancers are designed to teach developmentally-appropriate movement and encourage the development of motor skills through dance. For older dancers, we strive to introduce proper technique alongside artistry.

Our versatile faculty members are each gifted with nurturing qualities and a strong passion for dance. We are united in our belief that every child should have the opportunity to feel the joy of dance and be taught with encouragement and positive reinforcement.

What is YPAD?

Youth Protection Advocates in Dance (YPAD) is a non-profit organization designed to help dance studios achieve safe classroom practices. They offer tools and resources, including a studio certification, to develop and support healthy dancers. Its founder, Leslie Scott, visited Exhale Dance Studio in 2017 to complete its certification. Exhale Dance Studio was the first and only studio in Manitoba, and the second studio in Canada, to have a personal visit from Leslie and to be awarded YPAD Certification.

So what does all this mean for you?

It means that as a YPAD Certified studio, Exhale Dance Studio is committed to providing you and your child with the safest, healthiest dance education environment possible!

We are dedicated to living out YPAD’s mission: our faculty is educated, trained, and background-checked; our classrooms offer only developmentally appropriate, body-positive movement and music, and our students are dressed in age-appropriate dancewear and costumes.

What is More Than Just Great Dancing®?

More Than Just Great Dancing® is an organization founded by Misty Lown that prides itself on providing its members with best practices in both the administrative and artistic sides of the business. In 2013, Exhale Dance Studio became the first Canadian studio to be accepted as a More Than Just Great Dancing® affiliate and in 2014, Exhale’s Owner and Director, Shannon Putter, was honored with the MTJGD Growth Award.

The More Than Just Great Dancing® influence is invaluable, as it allows Exhale to provide a high level of service to its dance families like yours!

At Exhale, you can expect your child to experience instruction enriched by the More Than Just Great Dancing® curricula and teacher education tools—in other words, the experience of a joyful learning environment tailored to each class’s unique students. As a parent, you can also expect clear and consistent customer service, announcements, and communications from our faculty and staff.
