Summer is such a beautiful time to be outside and creating memories and laughter but planning a party is quite a different, it`s not all sunshine and rainbow.
Here are some tips to planning on outdoor event (birthday parties, play dates etc.)
- Hydration is very important. Kids forget to drink water when they’re having fun. Set up a cute, shaded tent or canopy with a cooler packed with juice boxes, water, and ice pops. If you make a dedicated hydration station, they’ll actually use it.
- Beat the Bugs : Keep mosquitoes and ants at bay by setting up a "comfort station" stocked with bug spray and sunscreen for guests. If you’re hosting an evening event, consider setting up a few bug-repelling citronella candles or fans around the main seating and food areas.
- Anchor Equipment Safely for the Wind: Winnipeg summers can bring sudden, strong gusts of wind. If you are setting up inflatables or tents on grass, ensure they are securely staked deep into the ground. If you are setting up on a hard surface like asphalt or concrete, make sure your vendor brings heavy-duty sandbags or water weights to lock everything down safely.
- Skip the Melting Treats 🧁: Avoid heavy buttercream frosting or chocolate-covered treats, they will melt into a sad, sticky mess in five minutes. Stick to cupcakes with light whipped icing, fruit skewers, or even better, book a local food truck or ice cream cart to handle the food for you.
- Setting up charging station ; Map out your power sources in advance, use dedicated circuits, and rent a quiet commercial generator if you’re hosting in a park or large open field.
