Native Youth Theatre

Native Youth Theatre Indigenous Theatre For Youth, a free theatre and film program designed for Indigenous and Metis youth! Do you know a teen who has a passion for acting?

Native Youth Theatre is located right here on Treaty One land within the Manitoba Theatre for Young People. We specialize in theatre classes for young people such as your kids, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends! Our exciting and supportive acting courses are geared especially towards Indigenous youth (ages 9 to 18) and are designed to foster imagination, creativity, self-esteem and self-

confidence. Do you know someone who is a little shy but loves to tell stories? Our Theatrical/Film courses run for 20 weeks and offer plenty of training and experience for youth. We will explore
our culture and traditions through play making, theater games, puppetry, mask-making, theatre sports, improvisation, and so much more. We offer introductory and returning level classes and everyone
is welcome but remember that classes are offered on a first-come/first-serve basis. so call or email us today! For more information or to register your child please contact

Our next gen class is eyeing up the stage! Getting ready for Cabaret 2025!

Here we also see a specimen of a teens' "confetti script". Still legible, it only needs to last one more rehearsal until the Sunday show!

We also see a sneak peak of the woodpecker mask for our Saplings class.

Go little script! Go! 🥳🥲

And, we're back after some technical difficulties.

In the meantime, our young actors persist! We're excited to announce our 2025 Cabaret Date!

Sunday, March 16, from 1pm to 4pm.

A free lunch is served, and we get to see all 4 classes perform on stage or in film at MTYP.

Here is a video of our preperations in class, where Tyler Shingoose helps teach the basic jigging step in a story about Nanbosho and the Woodpecker.

We also see Waawaate Fobister in class helping classes with their movement process.

We get to see some blurry photos of the teachers and teaching assistants photos of trying not to have their photo taken while someone's eyes are closed. (A tiktok trend).

Also Philip Geller helping with the Teen Class!
