Top 10 Earners at ASD in 2026 in Photos

There were some exceptional performances from our equine friends at ASD in 2026, many of them delivered by the top 10 money earners, which we feature here in photos taken by track photographer Jason Halstead, who once again proved why he’s a Sovereign Award winner with his camera.

All earnings are listed in US dollars, courtesy of Equibase, which makes the numbers even more impressive.

When converted from US dollars, the Top 10 earners at Assiniboia Downs made some serious Canadian cash, and there were another 45 horses that earned over US$20,000, most of which was pumped right back into the local economy…

And more horses.

Gourneau, Witt, and Whitehall win Championships as 69th ASD Live Race Meeting Wraps Up https://asdowns.com/gourneau-witt-and-whitehall-win-championships-as-69th-asd-live-race-meeting-wraps-up/

Trainer Jerry Gourneau won his sixth trainer title, and the twelfth consecutive title by an Indigenous horseperson, owner Henry S. Witt, Jr. took home his ninth owner title, and Antonio Whitehall won his fourth riding championship at Assiniboia Downs as the 69th season of live racing wrapped up on Wednesday.

A big thank you to all the fans and horse people who helped make 2026 at ASD another very successful year!

Longshots Go into Hiding as Elite Performances Highlight Week at ASD https://asdowns.com/longshots-go-into-hiding-as-elite-performances-highlight-week-at-asd/

After a week of monster payouts, the real longshots went into hiding, which made the chalk players happy, but there were three horses and one jockey who were about as far from hiding as you can get.

Guitars N Cadilaxs won the Winnipeg Futurity, Deputize took the Buffalo Stakes, and Mechanic Susie ran one of the fastest times of the meet to help jockey Antonio Whitehall score a quad.

She's bacckkk!

The final 3 nights of live racing are here 🏇

Fan Appreciation Nights, Mon Oct 5 to Wed Oct 7. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m., and admission and parking are FREE. Enjoy Happy Hour specials, $2 programs (with a free tip sheet), and 20% off gift shop merch.

The main and third floors are closed for a private event. Food, drinks and wagering are in the Clubhouse, with wagering and a bar on the tarmac.

Huge Payouts Rule for Second Week in a Row at ASD

If there was one thing that stood out this week at ASD it was the monster payouts for the second week in a row.

Last week, a single lucky bettor won the 20-cent ASD Jackpot Pick that paid $53,443.36. You would think that the pool would have taken some time to grow from last week to this week, but the pool exploded again, and on Wednesday night a punter made an even larger wheelbarrow score...

Frosty Blue capped a monster ASD Jackpot Pick 5 on Monday, Dontgiveupthefight showed her class in the Manitoba Matron on Tuesday, Elston Gunnn dug deep to win the Gold Cup on Wednesday, and the wiener dogs delivered fun in the mud for their fans during a rainy week at the Downs.
