Junior Musical Theatre Company (JMTC) is a children's musical theatre program in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Originally established in 1992 by Janna Larsen, the company has been owned and directed by Katie German since 2011. JMTC provides students with the opportunity to develop and refine their skills in singing, dancing and acting. JMTC is an auditioned pre-professional company for students from grade 2
to grade 12 which culminates in 2 full performances each year in December and June. The program runs on Fridays from 4:45 pm to 7:45 pm with small group rehearsals until 8:30 pm at the St. Andrew's River Heights United Church basement at 255 Oak Street. The Instructors:
KATIE GERMAN is a Métis Winnipeg based performer, director and educator. She received her training in Musical Theatre Performance at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, studied classical voice through the University of Manitoba and theatre through the University of Winnipeg. Katie is the owner and director of Junior Musical Theatre Company (JMTC) and has taught Musical Theatre and Voice at Balmoral Hall School, Grant Park High School, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, Prairie Theatre Exchange, The Rady Jewish Community Centre, The Citadel Theatre in Edmonton and St. Katie is currently working as the Artistic Associate at Manitoba Theatre for Young People, a Creator with the Pimootayowin Creators Circle (RMTC) and a mother to an almost 1 year old who loves to laugh and a creative 6 year old that shares her love of storytelling. JULIA CIRILLO has a passion for theatre and has been acting since she was a child, as an adult she continues working as an Actor in various Hallmark Films, plays and musicals in Winnipeg. Her most recent being Tilly in She Kills Monsters at the University of Winnipeg Directed by Erin McGrath. She has been Assistant director at JMTC since 2017, as well as created props for numerous JMTC shows and has trained with Manitoba Theatre For Young people as a Props Apprentice, she Assistant stage managed Manitoba Theatre for Young People’s STILL/FALLING Manitoba tour, and many other shows around Winnipeg, she created and ran the first dance program for Bronx Park Community Center. Julia currently works at Manitoba Theatre For Young People as an Acting Teacher and helps children to grow their skills and passion for theatre. Julia is honoured to work at JMTC, as a JMTC alumni herself she is extremely proud to work alongside such an incredible Director and company that nurtures the creative side of students and supports up and coming talent that we have in JMTC.
