Winnipeg Puppet Slam

Winnipeg Puppet Slam The Winnipeg Puppet Slam hosts annual events that showcase new short adult works of puppetry by local and international artists of all skill levels.

The Winnipeg Puppet Slam was formed in 2010 by puppeteers, Dan Wishes, Asa Nodleman and Curtis L. Wiebe after meeting Heather Henson (daughter of Jim Henson) at an animation festival in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. Heather Henson encouraged the three puppeteers to host a Puppet Slam in Winnipeg (see Winnipeg Puppet Slam https://www.facebook.com/WinnipegPuppetSlam and Puppet Slam Network: https://www.face

book.com/groups/puppetslamnetwork). Dan Wishes took on the role of the Puppet Slam's first Curator and organized annual (sometimes bi-annual) Puppet Slam events. In 2016, Dan moved to Japan to pursue puppetry there (https://www.facebook.com/TheWishesPuppetCompany) passing the role of curator to Curtis L. Wiebe who has been organizing the Winnipeg Puppet Slam since.

Thank you to everyone who came out for our shadow puppet workshop, hosted by ! It was a real pleasure to have so many aspiring puppeteers in one room, and learning new tricks from experienced shadow puppetry artists!
