The Winnipeg Arts Council is seeking a local artist to create a welcoming public artwork for the new Mike O’Shaughnessy Library at the Garden City Mall in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Treaty 1 Territory and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

The selected artist will receive a fee of $12,500 to create a cohesive multi-panel artwork, provide high-resolution digital files, and work with the City of Winnipeg to integrate the artwork into laminated bulkheads along the mall corridor. The City of Winnipeg will manage the fabrication and installation of the artwork.

We encourage submissions from all professional artists, including Indigenous artists—First Nations, Métis, and Inuit—as well as Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, non-binary, Deaf artists, and artists with disabilities.

Deadline: August 25, 2026

The selection process will take place in two stages, beginning with a review of each artist’s approach and qualifications.

Deadline approaching! Call to Winnipeg Artists to create a family-friendly public artwork for the new South Winnipeg Recreation Campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba, located on Treaty 1 Territory and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

2026 Individual Artist Cycle 2 Grant applications are now open!

The Winnipeg Arts Council recognizes the individual artist as the primary source of creative activity in all artistic disciplines. The Individual Artist Grant Program is intended to support the creation of new work in any art form, or the development, production, curation, or exhibition of works of art by Winnipeg artists.

Applications can be submitted online through https://winnipegarts.gosmart.org until 𝟭𝟭:𝟱𝟵 𝗣𝗠 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

If you have never applied for a Winnipeg Arts Council grant before, we recommend contacting us before submitting a request. Welcome / Bienvenue!
June 25th, 5:30PM to 7:30PM, explore St. Boniface with the Winnipeg Public Art Works Program and Tourisme Riel on a guided photo walk through one of Winnipeg’s most historic neighbourhoods.
Along this 1.2 km, 2-hour walk, participants will be encouraged to capture details and stories through their cameras or phones.
The walk will be conducted in English, but our guide will be happy to respond to questions or engage in additional discussion in French.
