The planet Mercury is moving across the face of the Sun today. It is called a transit and here are some pictures I took from my back yard this morning. Mercury is the tiny, black, round dot.

Lunar Eclipse Reminder:
A lunar eclipse will happen on Sunday, September 27th and we will have a great view of the event from Winnipeg!

The Harvest moon will start to enter the Earth's shadow just as it rises in the east around 7:10pm CDT. It will be completely in the darkest part of the shadow beginning around 9:10pm CDT. By 12:30am it will all be over.

Make a note of how dark the moon will appear and how red. Some eclipses are darker than others and is related to how much dust and pollution are in the Earth's atmosphere at the time. A dark moon means a dirtier atmosphere.
