Filia Regina Silens - Silent Princess
This lovely flower was said to have been a favorite of the princess of Hyrule. Once feared to have gone extinct, it's recently been spotted growing in the wild.
I was wanting to do some more watercolour painting, and I kept thinking about those old botanical illustrations from textbooks. 🌿🥀 I thought about how I could do a take on that and obviously my favourite game series of all time came to mind! I feel like I have seen other people do this before, and much more successfully, but I loved trying something new with watercolour. Plus, it let me have an excuse to use my gorgeous gold! Maybe I'll do some other fictional plants next? 🎨🖌️
My wife helped me with the Latin translation, since she studied it years ago. There isn't a perfect translation, and I won't pretend to understand how naming conventions work for plants, but I thought it gave the right vibe 😅 If any scientists want to chime in and tell me what it should have been I'm all ears!
