The three pieces I submitted for my audition into the 101 Landscape Edition Art Book.... Check the comments to find out which piece will be featured !
Honestly, I didn't think I'd get in. Typically, landscape art is more natural, my work is quite bright. I love my paintings style, but it's often too bright for these types of juried competitions, so a lot of the time, I don't bother applying. For some reason, this time, I said, what the hell, I'll give it a go - even though I don't even typically paint landscapes!
The piece I decided to publish is so different from the rest of the book - I kinda did that intentionally. I could have gone with the safer one, the beautiful sunset over the mountains, which I absolutely love, but I decided to be bold and daring, and just be a bit different from the crowd - which is kinda on-brand for Karis as a person and has been my whole life (just ask my mother 😂) .
I chose this piece - titled Dreamland - because it was different than anything I'd painted so far, and went through a journey of discovery. I'll have to tell you all about it sometime.
