This was a really special commission I did a few months ago, in honour of sweet baby Daeni, who left this world much too soon, with her mama, Maisy. Here's the final product, and a few progress photos along the way.

You may not know that I do commissions! I love working with my collectors to bring their ideas to life, whether it's to commemorate a special moment, honour a loved one, or just make something cool to bring a personal touch to their space!

Interested in working with me for a commission?
Send me a DM or email me and let's chat about it!

Tomorrow is the day!!!

YOU'RE INVITED!!
Where: Winnipeg, Portage Place
When: August 13 to 16 (Next week!!!!)
Tickets: www.under100artshow.com/winnipeg

Your ticket becomes a weekend pass if you take a selfie at the show and post it on Instagram/Facebook and tag Under 100 Art Show (free re-entry when you show your post at the door!)

Not required for re-entry, but I'd be grateful if you tag my page as well Karis Funk, Artist !

Me and all the artists have been working REALLY hard to prepare for this show (my last count was 75 pieces!) and we would LOVE to see you there! Whether you're looking to buy art or are just looking for something to do!

How it works:

If you see a painting you want, you're allowed to take it off the wall yourself. You can also ask anyone of the staff/volunteers (people dressed in Christmas vacation themed clothing) for assistance. Saw me post about a painting that'll be there, but you don't see it on my section of the wall? Ask a staff member/volunteer! They can check if it's in the back waiting for restock, or I'm a different section of the show, or if it's already been sold!

There will be live music as well as beer from Devil May Care Brewing. Kids 16 and under get in free!

I'll be working the door on opening night, so come say hi!

4 paintings in various stages of completion.
I've noticed over the past few months of prepping for my first big art show, that I've become a faster painter. Faster at making decisions, better at trusting the process, and faster at recognizing when something isn't working and needing to move it in another direction. I'm so proud of the confidence I'm gaining, in allowing myself to make mistakes, instead of putting massive pressure on each individual piece, allowing myself to play with my supplies and have fun with art again. It makes me excited for the future of my art, and I hope this joy and excitement comes through in my latest work.

"Sunsets on the Beach" will be available at the Winnipeg Under $100 art show for $100 (regular price $150)!

I created this piece using acrylic mixed media, collage and oil paint, using a combination of abstraction and realism. It depicts three solitary wolves observing the same sunset in various locations at the beach.

Are they from the same pack and just needed a solitary moment of peace and quiet away from each other or are they lone wolves navigating the same landscape, and enjoying the same sunset, together in their aloneness?

What story comes to mind when you see this painting?

Just a few of the pieces I'll be bringing to the in Winnipeg! So far, I have 38 pieces I'll be bringing and I'm hoping to add a few more yet!
Today has been a busy day of working on inventory, adding on the hardware and making sure my signature is on all of them, and the next step is making sure everyone is varnished.
Once the more "admin" type work is done on the pieces that ready to go, I can start working on some more to bring along!

My mom had the most beautiful peonies in her garden, and I was inspired to do something a little different than my usual work.
This triptych is done in mostly colored pencil with a tiny bit of alcohol marker. They will be available at the Under 100 Art Show in Winnipeg next month!

If you don't already have tickets, send me a DM or leave a comment about tickets and I'll make sure to send you the link! The show is August 13-16, 2026, and I can't wait to see you there!

I made this painting in 2020, back when I was a whole different version of me. It was the first painting I'd ever done that made me feel like maybe this isn't just a hobby, maybe I could make something out of this thing I love to do. 6 years later, it's still hanging on my living room wall. I look at it every day, and I'm grateful that I had the courage, only 2 years later, to follow my dreams and invest in learning more about art and how to really make the art I want to make.
My style is very different now, and I've learned a lot about art since then, and still, this is one of my favorite paintings I've ever made.

Now the question I'm facing, is do I sell it and let it bring joy into someone else's home, or do I keep it as a fond memory and reminder of what happens when you believe in yourself?

If you're an artist, do you have a piece of art you've made that you won't ever sell?
If you're not an artist, what's something you've made, or done or accomplished that you're incredibly proud of, even if it might not seem like such a big deal to others?
