Food for thought.
That saying—“You can’t reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth.”—basically means that once you’re in a bad situation, logic won’t save you. In graphic design, it’s a reminder to be proactive rather than reactive.
Think about working with a difficult client. If they’ve already decided on an awful design choice, trying to argue your way out of it might be pointless. The key is to set expectations before things get messy—like having a clear process, mood boards, or contracts that outline what works and what doesn’t.
Or picture a design project that’s way off track. If you wait until the last minute to fix major issues, you’re stuck trying to “reason” with a deadline that won’t budge. At that point, no amount of justification will make bad design choices look good.
The takeaway? Set boundaries early, trust your instincts, and don’t wait until you’re deep in a mess to take action.
