I thought I would share this picture of my new license plate made for me by Wanda Fraser. Very cool indeed.

I'm back! After working on numerous carpentry projects for myself and others, I am finally getting back to the shop. I had an idea to see if I could incorporate actual pictures into box lids. So I made a jig to allow me to hollow out the lid, glued in the pictures and cover with resin. These pictures are courtesy of Lisa Newman, who is becoming quite the expert with wildlife photography .
Trust me,my posted pictures do not do her actual photos justice.
I really like how these keepsake boxes turned out. The wood used is repurposed from an old table top that was bought at the Wicker Emporium and i refused to throw out. Yellow wooden splines were added and felt was glued to the bottoms.
This idea opens up lots of possibilites such as custom pieces with personal pictures used or making pet urns for example.

Here is another finished fish scene. This time I sliced him in half and added two different wood colours to add detail. Some resin and wood reeds with a couple red fish on a poplar base complete the project.
As for the crib boards, I had an idea I wanted to try. These are two actual pictures of Halls Harbour that I inlayed into the ash crib boards and covered with clear resin. The reason for doing this is my woodworking items will now also be availabe in Halls Harbour at Parker's General Store and I wanted to add something a little different. Of course this idea has given me so many more ideas I want to try.

A collection of walnut crib boards. Very rich colourful grain. Added some Canada flags and some resin work and finished them with three coats of gloss varathane. I thought I would try something a little different with the cat resin.

SHARK ATTACK!!
So I had this idea one night, I think it was after the dogs barked or the cats fought and woke me up. Regardless ,as I was laying in bed I thought I should make some sharkcuterie boards. These guys are made of maple with a little bit of walnut. I sanded them to a very fine finish and then added a mixture of food safe mineral oil and bees wax.
I think guys might buy a lot of these and actually wear them because you know what the song says.....Every girl is crazy 'bout a shark dressed man.

Just completed some more Keepsake boxes. Two are made with walnut and have canary wood inlay. I used a water based poly finish, added some little yellow fish on the front and a hinged lid. These are about 4" inches square.
The other two are made with chestnut wood and have a purple resin infill on the lids. Teak oil finish with the addition of a shark and anchor on the front. About 5"x6" inch in size.
As I was trying to post this on Facebook I had a trio of supervisiors show up. One over each shoulder and one just beside me. I thought I better include them to keep my job safe but I will tell you, being micromanged is no fun.
