Progress on my piece. Photo referenced by Worked on this for 13 hours yesterday. I’ve never had such a large piece on such a tight timeline but I am determined to get it done no matter what it takes!! Been going back and forth between bulk & details to keep my mind into it. A piece this large there’s no bluffing mistakes. Hoping it pays off because the dedication I’ve got on this one is crazy!!

I happened to notice that I have posted finished or wip bronc pieces on this exact day both in 2023 & 2024, so I figured I’d show comparison on how much I’ve improved. My style has changed a bit, and I am much better with proportions and lighting. So cool that 3 years later I am still at it with my art and have such an amazing crowd of people cheering me on. Both black horses are referenced from photos by and Get Smart is by Gralyn J. Photography. Both photographers who I adore to this day and has been a pleasure working with!
Thank you all for the support over the years in my crazy journey of drawing both rank and companion horses ❤️❤️❤️

About a year before my grandpa passed, he gave me a pack of these pencils because he figured I could use them for my art. Are they professional? No. Do I use them on every project? Yes. Every single outline I do is with these pencils my grandpa gave me. I truely handle my work like they’re going to be in a museum one day. $40 sheets of paper. Don’t touch without gloves. Use professional supplies for everything else. But when it comes to the outline, I will always use the gesture that my grandpa was ever so thoughtful to give to me. Simply because I feel like it ties such a deep connection to my work. My grandpa was an amazing cattle rancher/farmer. Amazing Christian. Amazing Grandpa/husband/father all of the above.
So just know when you get my pieces, you get a little gift from a generation that was ran by honest work, thoughtfulness, and deep roots in western culture and morals.

All the love!!
Kay❤️

Well, concept was approved for my CS poster design. (And much loved which shocked me a little) lol Now time to start!!

Had a hard month. Horse had surgery which required a lot of aftercare, then my car got wrote off, then my dad went into long term care shortly after my 25th birthday. I’m so looking forward to better things ahead.
Including being a runner to design Calgary Stampedes Poster. Thanks to everyone I’m teaming up with on this.
A lot of people in hard places say “why me”
But I already feel in my bones even though this year had a rough start it’s my year to kick ass. God will guide me and I shall follow. Better art. Better horses. Better life. I’m a believer in shooting for the better and letting go of things you can’t change.
Wishing the best to everyone else too!
Lots of love and hopefully I can share something soon.
Kay

Hey there everyone so I have a little bit of an update to make. God placed it heavy on my heart last spring that there was something more to my life that was missing. I felt the strong urge to want to help others grow with God. He has truely worked wonders in my life, and if I can help others onto the same path there’s nothing that makes me happier. I love art, and I am so appreciative for the gift the Lord has blessed me with, but it was getting to the point where being at home alone all day drawing was starting to wear on my body and mental health. I do believe God gave me this gift to bring joy and peace to others, but I don’t think He would want that as an expense to myself.
So long story short, my prayers were answered and I have gotten a job as an educational assistant at a Christian school. Not to fear- I am still continuing my art. But just at a more healthy pace, where I no longer have to stress and can really work to my full abilities. With that being said everyone who is on my waiting list is still there, I am just likely going to be taking more time with my pieces as the Lord has provided me two ways to work now. And two ways to help touch people’s hearts with His grace. I cant wait to share more artwork with you all soon. Feeling beyond blessed and I pray you are all doing well. Take care! And thank you all for being such strong supporters in both my artwork and my life!

It’s been a while, but This is the BIG project I’ve been working on for Kissing Horse Ranch. this is truely a piece you have to see in person to appreciate! It is a 23x29”, the largest drawing I’ve done before. it’s hard to capture on camera! Had an absolute blast doing this piece with all the texture in the winter coat and wooly chaps! Thanks for the awesome project and opportunity to draw a horse near to your heart Dusty!
