I'm actually running low on RR spikes around my shop, they're great material to practice with and make small projects from. Especially if they're old, rusted and pitted.

When I'm on the move, I like to take some of my leather working tools and supplies with me.

My day job tends to see me working closer to the Alberta mountains.

When I'm off work, I sneak in what leather working I can. It's very relaxing and enjoyable.

I'll be trying out all kinds of different projects, I've got a lot of sheaths to make!

The swords are finished!

These Viking swords were made during a private sword class I hosted for some of my friends I play board games with.

These swords are far from perfect, I definitely have a lot of learning left when it comes to making blades. However every single sword was properly heat treated, didn't crack, warp or bend!

Made from leaf springs, im genuinely surprised they didn't suffer a catastrophic failure during the heat treat.

I'm looking forward to making more swords in the future, refining them as I make more. I certainly have a long way to go before I make an absolutely immaculate sword. One day!

Finished my first kitchen today! Talk about a challenging build. This Japanese inspired blade is 1075 and the handle is zebra wood and Arizona iron wood.

The grinding of the edge was intimidating but it taught me a tremendous ammout of patience when grinding.

I think I need more practice before I feel comfortable selling kitchen knives.

I've fallen in love with the Japanese style of kitchen knives. I'm looking forward to making some more, learning and getting better and making knives.

I'm definitely excited to experiment with different combinations of wood when making more in the future!

I've been stepping out of my comfort zone for this project.

I've gotten a Viking sword roughly forged out from a leaf spring. Like everything, nothing goes according to plan. The tip of my sword broke off. Thankfully I had enough material to continue to draw out the sword to its full length.

I used the broken tip of the sword to forge a sax knife.

This dark age Norse sword I'm making is going to be based off of swords I saw at the Royal Alberta museum last fall when they had the Viking exhibit.

I'm so excited, yet unbelievable nervous to see how this sword turns out.

Next weekend I'll be hosting a private Viking sword workshop for some friends of mine. I'm practicing for that workshop and ensuring I'm capable of making a functional Viking sword! I love the pressure of this task, I find I often rise to the challenge and welcome the difficulty!

Simple pair of pincher/power hammer tongs and two cross fullers.

The cross fullers will be used for either spreading the beard of an axe or for forging in a fuller in a blade or sword.

As for the tongs, ive needed a pair for my little giant hammer.

Some say it's not possible to punch an eye on the #25 little giant but it definitely is. You just cant make huge hammers. Both the tongs and fullers were made using my power hammer. It's a wicked machine and I don't see myself every parting ways with it. Unless I get a bigger hammer one day haha!

Finally finished this pot rack from my brother! Only took me forever haha.

Talk about a challenging new experience. This project definitely forced me to learn some new skills.

This 9 hook pot rack, adorned with two large leafs on the ends seemed unbelievably daunting at first. From punching all the holes for the hooks to forging the tenons for the support bars.

That being said I feel this project forced me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. I intend to explore more traditional iron work and joinery in the future. Be it another pot rack, a sign or gate. I'm certainly looking forward to learning, sharing and trying something new!

Getting back into the swing of things again. Starting off small by making myself a proper Mjölnir and an oath ring.

I've spent a lot of time in self isolation with my girlfriend over these past few months. I've taken this time to reflect and think on a lot of things. I definitely am not the same person I once was coming out of this pandemic.

Both my Mjölnir and Oath ring are very important to me. I couldn't have made them from any ordinary steel lying around in my shop. I decided I would make them from a piece of damacas I made with a dear friend of mine a few years ago. Mike

That piece of damacas was very important to me, significant to me. It was a mile stone in my journey. It reminded me of how far I've come and how I need to continue down this path. I need to push myself and attempt something new, something challenging. In the next few days I hope to find something to challenge myself. Perhaps a sword!

CLASSES RETURNING TO FROZEN IRON FORGE!

As this pandemic has been unfolding I've been closely monitoring and assessing my ability to offer classes. With businesses reopening, restaurants operating at full capacity and gyms opening, I figured it's time for my business to open to the public again.

I'll be taking every measure to protect both my students and myself. Through following all the guidelines put forth by the Alberta government, sanitizing my shop and equipment and lastly providing all necessary safety equipment and PPE.

I'm so excited to offer classes again. I've always loved teaching others, especially when it comes to this craft.

I'll be updating my website tonight, and post here what classes I'm offering and the dates for each class.

I greatly appreciate everyone's support over these months. I've grown so much and as a result I've gotten a lot of inquiries about classes. I can't wait to teach and share my passion again!
