As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving, we’re feeling especially grateful for the incredible community that makes our Fair so special. 🌾

We’re thankful for our amazing volunteers, dedicated directors, generous sponsors, local agricultural community, and everyone who supports the Brooklin Spring Fair year after year. Our Fair wouldn’t be what it is without all of you!

As Agricultural Week comes to an end, we hope we’ve shown you that agriculture is so much more than animals and tractors.
It’s the food we eat.
It’s the soil beneath our feet.
It’s science and technology.
It’s pollinators and plants.
It’s livestock and crops.
It’s the people who work hard every day to feed and support our communities.
And it’s education.

As an agricultural fair, we’re incredibly proud to help bring agriculture into our community and give people of all ages the opportunity to learn where their food comes from and why agriculture matters.

Agriculture is all around us — every single day.

Behind every field, barn, crop and meal is a person.
Farmers and agricultural workers put in long hours, make countless decisions and dedicate their time to producing the food and resources our communities depend on.

Agriculture is a community made up of farmers, veterinarians, agronomists, equipment operators, researchers, food producers, truck drivers, processors and so many others.

Today, we’re celebrating the people behind agriculture.

Did you know that pollinators play an incredibly important role in agriculture?

Bees, butterflies and other pollinators help many plants produce the fruits, vegetables and seeds we enjoy.

They may be small, but their role in our food system is anything but!

Agriculture is all connected — from the soil beneath our feet to the pollinators buzzing around our gardens.

Another reason agriculture is so much more than tractors and animals!

Yes, animals are a BIG part of agriculture — but there’s so much more to it than simply seeing them at the Fair!

Livestock agriculture provides food, supports rural communities and involves animal care, nutrition, breeding, veterinary science and so much more.

Our agricultural fairs give families an opportunity to get up close, ask questions and learn from the people who care for these animals every day.

We’re proud to help connect our community with agriculture — one animal, one farmer and one conversation at a time!

Agriculture has come a LONG way!

Today's farms use technology, science, GPS, data, automation and innovative equipment to help farmers grow more food while making the most of their land and resources.

That tractor you see at the Fair? It’s just one small piece of a much bigger picture!

Modern agriculture is constantly evolving, and farmers are using new technology to help meet the needs of a growing world.

Agriculture isn’t just about tradition — it’s also about innovation!

UPDATE: Biscuit is home! 💙 🐇

Please help us find Biscuit.

Biscuit, a Holland Lop rabbit entered in this year's fair by a 10-year-old exhibitor, was taken from the Pet and Poultry Building at the 182nd Markham Fair during the evening of Saturday, October 3.

Biscuit is small, light ginger and white, with lopped ears and a white stripe down the face.

We're deeply disappointed that someone would take an animal from the Fair. Our exhibitors put so much time and care into raising their animals, and every one of them is part of our Fair family. We're working closely with York Regional Police, who are investigating, and we're reviewing our security to help prevent this from happening again.

Before food makes it to our table, it starts with soil, seeds and someone who knows how to grow them.

Farmers work with the land year after year, carefully managing soil, crops, water and nutrients to produce the food, feed and materials we depend on.

Healthy soil is one of agriculture's most important resources — and taking care of it is an important part of taking care of our future.

So the next time you see a field, remember: there’s a whole lot happening beneath the surface!

🌾 HAPPY AGRICULTURAL WEEK! 🌾

This week, October 5–11, we’re celebrating Agricultural Week — and as an agricultural fair, we are incredibly proud to play a part in educating our community about where our food comes from and the importance of agriculture.

Agriculture is so much more than animals and tractors. It’s the food on our tables, the people who grow and raise it, the land they care for, the science and technology behind farming, and the many ways agriculture touches our everyday lives.

At the Brooklin Spring Fair, we’re proud to bring agriculture into the community and create opportunities for families, especially our younger generations, to learn, ask questions, and connect with the people and industries that help feed us.
