Did you know that the first day of spring is March 20th? I don’t know about you, but I am incredibly excited for the additional daylight and warmer days!

…Corner Bookmark Packages…

Reading is incredibly important for growing children. However, reading may not come as easy or be as enjoyable for some children (for various reasons). Practice can lead to improvement, but it may not be easy to practice if the child does not find joy or excitement in reading a book.

This lead me to create some corner bookmarks with animal stickers on them.

These are fairly easy to take on and off a page, as well as they come in a variety of colours.

I have created a few bulk packages that could be used as prizes or rewards for children learning to read.

These would be great for teachers or parents with elementary school aged children!

The price would be $1.50 instead of $2.00 per bookmark if more than 10 bookmarks are purchased.

…Velvet Bookmarks…

These book marks are magnetic with a velvet exterior. These bookmarks have a unique texture and could be beneficial for those who may fidget or enjoy feeling different textures.

I have made a few in different shades of blue 🌊

All of my bookmarks are $2 at this time while I continue to practice, experiment, and figure out where I need to make adjustments. There may be little imperfections in each book mark as well.

Corner bookmarks are quite easy to make if you have the right size and type of paper.

These may not stay as well put like magnetic bookmarks do. However, they are easy to make and can be created with different colours or patterns!

If you look up “corner bookmarks” on Pinterest or google there are various styles, ideas, and tutorials that have been fun to look at if you are wanting to try making them yourself!

Hello everyone!
My name is Jade, I am 22, and I love to create. I am currently a student with the University of Regina working towards completing my BSW. Besides studying to become a social worker I also enjoy painting and participating in various creative activities.

Growing up, I always felt like art was more than a hobby to me, but rather a therapeutic experience that helped me cope when I started to feel overcome with high levels of stress.
I also LOVE to read both fiction and non-fiction literature as a form of self care (when I am not reading textbook or research articles). After taking some time to reflect on the things that bring me joy, I became inspired to make bookmarks!

The one thing I always found disappointing about traditional bookmarks was how easily they fell out of my books. I often take my books on trips with me or will have my textbooks in my book bag while walking around campus. I found that my bookmarks never stayed put, that folding the corner of the page didn’t last, and that sticky notes were really simple in appearance or would eventually loose their adhesiveness.

After some more thinking I began to experiment with creating magnetic and corner bookmarks. The ones I have made so far aren’t perfect and hold some imperfections, but they work better then some of my store bought ones that I still have. I remember being gifted a magnetic bookmark, but found that they weren’t as common when I was looking around in stores. Overall, I wanted access to more styles, as well as felt a desire to share them with other book readers around me who may also experience similar frustrations.

I would appreciate any constructive criticism or ideas that you feel comfortable sharing with me at any point of my posting on this page! Please feel free to message me if you have an idea and I would love to try my best to create it and have it become a reality. I believe trying new things and experimenting is a significant part of what makes creating art fun!
