Eric Goldstein’s long and productive care

A multi-award winning Director of Photography, Eric is a recipient of the Eastman Award for Excellence in Cinematography with over 30 years of experience. Working first as an assistant cameraman and as a camera operator for distinguished filmmakers’ such as John Frankenheimer, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Wes Craven and Stephen Fears, before becoming an established Director of Photography. Eri

c has over 68 Director of Photography IMDB credits photographing features, network series, documentaries and televised movies. Eric has photographed an impressive list of talent that includes Brad Pitt, Jim Carrey, Rene Zellweger, Kiefer Sutherland, Ed Norton, and Val Kilmer. His work continues to win awards and has been aptly termed “Lustrous Naturalism”. According to Eric, “It is my job as a Director of Photography to collaborate with the director to create ‘synergetic’ images that support the emotional context of the story”. Before earning a degree in Film and Video from the California Institute of the Arts, Eric honed his skills as a fine artist at Rhode Island School of Design where he studied art history, photography and metal sculpture. Throughout his filmmaking career Eric remained contemporary in the language of art with his metal sculpture, painting and commissioned furniture. His artwork has been featured in several art publications, awarded a Distinguished Artist Award from Art Ascent journal and has been juried into several international artists exhibits. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Montreal, Toronto, Whistler, and Vancouver. Currently, he is using mixed media to build canvases that are graphically influenced and have strong, architectural rhythms. Unconventionally constructed with various colored fibers, metal foils, and glass tile, Eric’s painted canvases express the same underlying concept that he strives for as a cinematographer: Emotional narratives with kinetic energy.

My intent is to express poetic narratives that in- turn imbue the spaces they are displayed in with kinetic energy and thoughtfulness. I hope that Squamish Light does exactly that for its new owners. thank you Vedrana # Aquamaris Gallery in Duncan B.C for finding a home for my work.

Light isn’t still- bending, reflecting, shimmering. Can you feel it move? “NO CURTAINS NEEDED”, the absence of curtains allows for unfiltered shimmering light to dance freely upon the walls. It creates a sense of freedom and awe. Reminding us to let go of our barriers, both physical and cerebral, so we can immerse ourselves in the unrestricted grander that surround us.

Opening August 28th at the Sidney and Gertrude Zack Gallery. Reception Thursday 6 to 8. WHAT REMAINS, is my way of bearing witness to the horror unfolding in Israel and Gaza. It expresses my profound sense of conflict and loss of a meaningful identity. This piece isn’t about right or wrong or even resolution; it’s about holding space for complexity- for grief- empathy and hope that something sacred remains.

“What Remains Between Ash and Light “ is my way of bearing witness to the horror unfolding in Israel and Gaza. It expresses my profound sense of conflict, loss and perhaps a personal search for a meaningful identity.
The palette of whites and blues with shattered geometric shapes offer a fragile glimpse of an Israeli flag. Fractured and worn down by violence and grief, the flag, once representing a sense of pride and unity, now carries a heavy burden of Sorrow.
This piece isn’t about right or wrong or even resolution; it’s about holding space for complexity; for grief and empathy and hope that something sacred remains.

I stand with Ukraine! I’m using cotton fibers, burnt burlap, metal foils to tell a story of the crisis in Ukraine. their country is shattered, but Ukraine is truly the land of the free and the home of the brave, unlike our neighbours to the south.
