Spotlight on Susan Holroyd

Meet Susan Holroyd, wildlife biologist, bat enthusiast, and one of the keynote speakers at the Dark Sky Festival! Susan will be hosting the interactive exhibit “Into the Night: Bats Up Close!”, where festival-goers can explore the nocturnal world of bats through real specimens, 3D printed wings and skulls, and even listen to echolocation calls.

Get hands-on with fun, educational activities—craft flappy bats, rescue rubber bats from a mock research net, measure wingspans, and record your own findings like a real field biologist. Susan brings her passion for wildlife and science to life in an engaging experience perfect for families, curious minds, and science lovers of all ages.
