Hey Comedy Fans! I write this post with very mixed emotions. On the one hand, this Tuesday, January 31st we have an absolutely stellar show! On the other, hand, THIS TUESDAY IS OUR LAST SHOW EVER. Crooked Sword Comedy is taking an indefinite hiatus, but not before we go out with a bang! This show will feature just three amazing performers, like one of our anniversary shows, and with these three, it's going to be the perfect way to cap off our time in KW! And for the last time, the show is at KW Boathouse, starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Headlining is Crooked Sword favourite and close friend Dom Paré! Not only has Dom performed at Montreal's prestigious Just for Laughs Festival and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, in addition to winning the Border City Comedy Fest Windsor Ontario, he also spends much of his time touring clubs and universities in the States! Dom's sharp wit, hilarious stories, and ability to have the crowd dangling on his every words is just some of what makes him so amazing! Dom is so much a part of Crooked Sword Comedy, having headlined our One-Year Anniversary Show as well as our first show at The Boathouse. There is nobody better in the world to put the finishing touches on this last one.

Hosting is the brilliant Martha E. Chaves! Originally from Nicaragua, Martha has over 20 years become one of Canada's most successful comedians, performing all over the world to sold-out audiences! This all in addition to numerous festivals, and acting in movies with Chris Rock and Denzel Washington! Martha is not only an incredibly fun presence on stage, transitioning seamlessly between every subject under the sun, but her ability to make politics both funny and accessible to everyone is something you need to see to believe!

And featuring is Latino spitfire Marito Antonio Lopez! Originally from Alberta via El Salvador, Marito has made a name for himself as an incredibly versatile, high-energy comedian who brings the entire room into his performance! Drawing from his love of Hip-Hop, Marito takes the audience on a journey with his words, with big highs full of hilarity, and lulls just long enough for you to catch your breath before he has you falling out of your chair with tears of laughter in your eyes.

This may be the last post I write, and if you're still reading, I would just like to say what an honour and pleasure it's been to bring live comedy to Kitchener-Waterloo for almost three years. The support for the art form and love for the comedians has been nothing short of wonderful, and once again comedy thrives in this area. I'm so happy to have just been a small part of that. Thank you all.

Hello, Comedy Fans! Rejoice, January is almost over, and we've got a kickass lineup to help you celebrate! As always, we'll be at KW Boathouse this Tuesday, January 24th, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Returning to headline after a long break is the wonderful Clifford Myers! There's no one way to describe Clifford. One of the most dynamic comedians that Canada has to offer, Clifford's presence from the moment he hits the stage lets you know that you're in for an incredible experience! The raw energy that Clifford brings to every show, combined with hilarious stories only he can tell and a level of crowdwork all his own, it's no wonder he is one of our most anticipated headliners whenever he comes to town! He has a long list of credits, but honestly, they don't matter, because the Clifford experience is enough of a reason to be there!

Hosting is the fantastic Rebecca Reeds, and she'll be joined by a brilliant lineup that includes Kyle Andrews, Courtney Gilmour, and Gerry Hall! See you all on Tuesday!

Hello Comedy Fans! We are back at KW Boathouse this Tuesday, Jan 17 with another awesome lineup, and as always, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE! Laughter is the best way to forget about the dreary weather, so come on out!

Returning to headline this week is the fantastic Christophe Davidson! Christophe is a Yuk Yuk’s headliner whose instantly likeable personality has made him an international hit! Christophe has performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Just for Laughs, and JFL42, among many others. Performing all over the world has helped Christophe develop a universally accessible style, tackling everything from observations of dating and relationships through broad social issues. What remains constant is his ability to make the audience howl with laughter!

And hosting is the very funny Moe Ismail, a staple at Toronto's historic Nubian Disciples show! Moe just recorded his debut album, and we can't wait to see him on our stage! He'll be joined by the wonderful Rachelle Yvonne Lauzon, Marc Hallworth, and Jacob Balshin! See you all on Tuesday!

Hello again, Comedy Fans, and welcome to 2017! We're coming in hot this month with another amazing lineup, so head to KW Boathouse this Tuesday, January 10th, and prepare for a night of hilarity! As always, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Returning to headline is the unbelievably funny Nick Beaton! Nick has done everything that can be done in Canadian comedy, having had his own Comedy Now! special, and performing at Monreal's prestigious Just for Laughs festival, in addition to the Halifax ComedyFest and Winnipeg Comedy Festival! He's also performed on CBC's The Debaters, and is known for his intelligent yet hysterical observations. Nick needs to be seen live to get the full experience of his brilliant wit, so don't miss this show!

And hosting is the fantastic Shawn Hogan! After making the finals of the 2016 Brantford Comedy Festival, Border City Comedy Fest Windsor Ontario, and Toronto Comedy Brawl, Shawn ventured on a cross-Canada tour, and now he's returning to Kitchener for you! He'll be joined by the very funny Matt Michaud-Gass, Sam Burns, and Andrew Packer! See you all on Tuesday!

Happy Almost New Year, Comedy Fans! Our last show of 2016 was an absolute blast, and in true Crooked Sword style, we're starting off 2017 the same way! So this Tuesday, January 3rd, head on down to KW Boathouse for our first show of what is bound to be an epic year of comedy! As always, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Headlining is the very funny Jon Schabl! Jon is originally from Kitchener, but now makes his home in sunny Los Angeles! A very successful independent comedian, Jon has been featured numerous times on Nerdist and the Nerdist Podcast Network! Jon has also performed at NXNE, SF Sketchfest, the San Francisco Comedy Festival, and the Riot L.A. Comedy Festival. He's a writer for CBC Comedy and we're excited to have him back!

Hosting is one of Canada's fastest rising stars, Michael Moses! Originally from Alberta, Michael has performed all over the country, including at the Border City Comedy Fest Windsor Ontario and the Brantford Comedy Festival. We're excited to have him back!

Also on the show are the wonderful Nick Martinello, Ernie Vicente, and AJ Bate! See you all on Tuesday!

Happy Holidays, Comedy Fans! Hope you're all excited to take a mini-vacation from life, but don't worry, we'll still be here! Once again, we decided to keep running through the holidays to make sure you get all your laughs all year round! So this Tuesday, December 27th, make your way to KW Boathouse for our 2016 blowout show! This lineup is amazing, and you definitely don't want to miss it. As always, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Headlining is the fantastic wonderful hilarious Steph Tolev! Steph is Canadian originally, but she lives in LA now, which means she only comes back once in a while. We're always super excited to have her, and this time is no different! Steph has performed at the world-famous Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, as well as the Dark Comedy Festival, in addition to winning numerous Canadian Comedy Awards! Steph's high-energy storytelling combined with a level of self-deprecation so vicious you almost feel bad for laughing are what make her one of Canada's best exports, and we can't wait to have her back!

And if that wasn't enough, returning to host is the fantastic Bryan O'Gorman! Bryan has headlined shows in 27 different countries, performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and Fringe World Festival. Bryan was also a pioneer of Canada's independent comedy scene, and we always love having him!

Joining these two are the very funny Tracy Hamilton, Jay Freeborn, and Collin Sideris! See you all on Tuesday!

What's that?! FREE COMEDY all December long?! That's right, comedy fans! For the second year in a row, Crooked Sword Comedy is bringing you the laughs uninterrupted! So come out to KW Boathouse this Tuesday, December 20th at 8:30pm for another awesome show! And as always, there's NO COVER!

Headlining this week is the fantastic Roy Daye! Roy is originally from Jamaica, and brings to the stage a laid back style that combines hilarious storytelling with hard-biting crowdwork! Roy is a natural, putting audience members at ease while at the same time making them tear up with laughter. He's someone you have to see to believe, which is why he's been featured at the Halifax ComedyFest and performed at the Historic Massey Hall Toronto! We're super excited to have him back!

And hosting is the awesome Nitish Sakhuja! Nitish just finished a cross-Canada tour, and we're excited to see what he has in store. Joining him are the very funny Aliya Kanani, John Mostyn, and Guled Abdi! See you all on Tuesday!

Headlining this week is the fantastic Chuck Byrn! A nationally touring headliner for the past 20 years, Chuck brings a wealth of experience to our stage. He's performed at Just for Laughs, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Halifax ComedyFest, in addition to having his own Comedy Now! special and being a competitor on Last Comic Standing! We're super excited to have him!

Returning to host is the wonderful Andrew Barr! A Crooked Sword favourite, we can't wait to have him back on our stage! Joining him will be the very funny Marito Antonio Lopez, Ben DuVal, and Jimmer Lowe! See you all on Tuesday!

We have had a lot of amazing comics hit our stage, but every once in a while we have a rare opportunity to bring someone in who helped shape Canadian Comedy as we know it today.This Tuesday, December 6th, we get that opportunity. Headlining is the absolutely fantastic Ron Josol! Ron is a pioneer in Canadian Comedy, having blasted his way through the ranks at record speed and now making his living while performing all over the world! Ron has had his own Comedy Now! special, performed at Just for Laughs, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the Halifax ComedyFest, in addition to appearing on MUCH Video on Trial! And that's just in Canada! He's performed at The World Famous Comedy Store, and regularly tours Asia and the Middle East. Ron has made a name for Canadian Comedy all around the world, and he's coming to Kitchener for one night only! So don't miss it.

Host Nicholas Reynoldson will be bringing it all night long and he'll be joined by the very funny Shirley Whalen, Cathryn Naiker, Andrew Harris, and newcomer Jay Grewal! See you all on Tuesday!

Headlining is the fantastic Todd Graham! Todd is one of the most refreshingly original comedians in the country, combining outlandishly simple premises with a delivery style all his own. Todd's brilliance comes from a perfectly crafted level of absurdity that at first creates confusion followed by uncontrollable bursts of laughter! After many years honing his skills, Todd made his debut at Montreal's prestigious Just for Laughs festival this summer. We are so excited to finally have him on our stage!

Hosting is Crooked Sword favourite Nick Martinello, and joining him will be the very funny Leonard Chan and Lexa Graham, along with newcomer Evan Vandermeer! Clear your schedules, and see you all on Tuesday!

Hey Comedy Fans! Good news, we are back in full form! We took two weeks off for renovations, and our comeback show was absolutely spectacular! So, with that in mind, we are going to keep the momentum going with another fantastic show this Tuesday, Nov 22 at KW Boathouse! As always, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Headlining is the one and only Ali Hassan! Ali is absolutely brilliant and one of Canada's most successful comedians. Not only has he performed at Montreal's prestigious Just for Laughs Festival numerous times, he's also the longtime host of Laugh out Loud on CBC Radio and SiriusXM Radio! Ali has appeared on TV as part of the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and the hit show Man Seeking Woman. We could go on and on, but perhaps you should just come see him for yourself!

And returning to host is the fantastic Alex Wood! Alex is a young gun and fast-rising star in Canadian comedy. He's already performed on TV numerous times, including at the Just for Laughs festival. He's performed at Toronto's JFL 42, and is known for leaving audiences in stitches with his high-energy combination of storytelling and hilarious observations. We're excited to have him back!

Also on the show are the very funny Sarah Ashby, Jordan Scherer, and Anna Gustafson! See you all on Tuesday!

Alright Comedy Fans, we had a bit of a setback last week, with renovations taking longer than usual, but this Tuesday, November 15th, we are for sure 100% back at KW Boathouse! After two weeks off, we know you're eager to get laughing again, so we've got an awesome lineup to kick things back into high gear! As usual, the show starts at 8:30pm, and is FREE!

Headlining is the absolutely fantastic Chris Locke! Chris is not only a Yuk Yuk's headliner and veteran of Montreal's prestigious Just for Laughs Festival, he's also got an incredibly diverse list of accomplishments. Chris was named Best Male Stand-Up at the 2014 Canadian Comedy Awards, has a recurring role on the hit CBC show Mr. D, and was called "One of Canada's most staggeringly original comedians" by VICE! He just released his newest album "Demons are Eating my Head" and we are so excited to have him!

And hosting is the very funny Marc Anthony Sinagoga! Marc has spent many years working hard at his original brand of observational comedy and race relations, and people are starting to take notice. A regular feature with Absolute Comedy, Marc won the 2015 Brantford Comedy Festival, and was a finalist at both the Border City Comedy Fest Windsor Ontario and the Cleveland Comedy Festival!

This dynamic duo will be joined by the hilarious Marc Hallworth, New York City's Anthony Kapfer, and newcomer Simon Grigg! See you all on Tuesday!
