Still life is not an easy subject — especially when drawing from real life instead of a photo. 😅
There’s a lot happening at once:
shape, proportion, light, shadow, composition, watercolor technique…🖌
And one of the biggest challenges — seeing a 3D object in front of you and translating it onto a 2D piece of paper.
That’s why we didn’t jump straight into painting.
First, we worked on sketches separately, studied the objects, shapes, proprtions, spaces, explored shading, and slowly built understanding step by step.
Then came watercolor.🎨
And everyone did beautifully 💛
This balance of structure and creative freedom is a big part of my teaching approach.👩🏫
Learn to observe.
Understand the structure.
Then make it your own ✨
P.S. Our Watercolor Flowers classes for teenagers start June 2 🎨
We’ll continue exploring structure — flowers this time — while learning watercolor techniques and observational drawing.
