On this day in 1948, the name “Charlie Brown” appeared for the first time in Charles M. Schulz’s comic Li’l Folks — over two years before Peanuts debuted. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026–2027 Season Launch last night! It was wonderful to gather with our community, celebrate local theatre, and share a season exploring the nature of power and how it shapes, challenges, and transforms us.

If you missed the launch, here’s what’s coming up in KWLT’s 2026–2027 season!

Our Main Stage season features the iconic rock musical RENT, a haunting new vision of Macbeth, and Iris (Says Goodbye), a new innovative musical where audiences help shape the story each night.

This season’s Studio Series includes the return of the New Works Festival, the long-running favourite March Madness. We are also excited to announce two studio series feature performances this year: the new play Waterloo, and Echoes & Experiments, an evening of unconventional theatre featuring Tone Clusters and a returning New Works Festival piece.

From beloved classics to bold original work, there are plenty of ways to attend, audition, volunteer, and get involved. We can’t wait to share this season with you. Thank you for supporting local theatre and helping make another exciting year at KWLT possible.

EXCITING NEWS! We're trying something new for RENT! Our audition dates have changed!

For a variety of reasons (including but not limited to: more time with the music, more time for costumes, and more time for schedule planning) we'll be doing auditions June 27-29, 2026, with callbacks on June 30th. In addition to the traditional in-person auditions, limited virtual auditions will be accepted for anyone out of town for the summer that still wishes to audition. Rehearsals will begin in September as per usual.

The full audition package and sign ups will be available JUNE 1, so stay tuned!
