MT Space (Multicultural Theatre Space) was created to centralize marginalized and racialized artists and stories, to fill what seems to be a great void in a community of many different people.

It was a wonderful night of TELL! Thank you to everyone who came out to join us. We had live Syrian music, a stage fight demo, a science interview, a stand-up performance and finished off the night with everyone participating in a Ukrainian dance. We can’t wait to invite you all again.

Welcome back Hiyam and Bó! The MT Space team returned from PACTCon 2026 in Whitehorse, Yukon – located on the territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. MT Space was excited to further the many difficult conversations currently happening in Canadian theatre.

We also attended some events at the Awaken Festival put on by our friends at Gwaandak Theatre. So good to see you, Patti Flather!

After taking in the beautiful landscapes, culture and people, we’ve had so much to reflect on and can’t wait to share what we’ve learned.

We’re excited to announced that Ward is joining the MT Space team as our Office Administrator.

Ward Khobiah is a Syrian Canadian theatre artist who grew up in Jordan and trained at Sheridan College in Canada. In Jordan, he worked in the publishing industry at a publishing house, where he developed a strong interest in literature. He enjoys getting to know people through conversations about books.

Following his passion for literature and the arts, he has worked with the IMPACT Festival (2023 & 2025) and the Hamilton Fringe Festival (2025). Over the past two years, he has performed and worked as a stage manager in various community productions. Recently, he acted in The Opposite, presented at IMPACT 25, and The Silver Case, presented at the Unhinged Festival (2025).

Through his work, he focuses on themes of peace and bringing forward voiceless characters. Alongside his creative work, he is interested in exploring both the artistic and administrative sides of theatre to better understand the industry behind the scenes.

Welcome aboard Ward!
