But did you know Dolly had a surprising connection to ?

She quietly helped bring Buffy the Vampire Slayer to life. Through Sandollar Productions — the company she co‑owned — Dolly was behind:

• the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer film
• the 1997–2003 Buffy TV series
• the Angel spinoff

One of the most influential horror franchises ever made exists in part because of her.

Favourite episode?!

It’s a chilly October night in 1999.

You’re curled up under a blanket with a bowl of popcorn as *Are You Afraid of the Dark?* flickers across the old television. The living room is covered in Halloween decorations, and glowing plastic pumpkins cast little orange shadows across the walls.

Outside, the trees are almost bare and the neighborhood has gone quiet. Every strange noise from outside makes you look toward the dark window for a second.

But you’re not going anywhere.

You pull the blanket a little higher, grab another handful of popcorn, and wait for the next story to begin.

**October nights just felt different back then.**

1890: The Birth of Aug 20th

Howard Phillips was born in Providence, Rhode Island.

Though his literary life was marked by obscurity, his legacy in horror cinema is nearly unmatched. Lovecraft’s unique brand of cosmic dread, ancient deities, and creeping madness laid the groundwork for generations of filmmakers.

Direct adaptations like Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator (1985) and Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space (2019), along with Lovecraftian homage films like John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness (1994), owe their existential chills to the dark imagination born on this day.
