Thank you Times Colonist for featuring Victoria Italian Day in this weekend's paper!
Our Community: Celebrate Italian Day with food, foosball and Ferraris
The community is invited to experience Italian culture, from food to Ferraris, at the third annual Italian Day at the Da Vinci Centre in Vic West.
The festivities, which run from noon to 5 p.m. June 28 at 195 Bay St., are being organized by the Victoria Italian Assistance Centre, a non-profit founded in 1955.
“This event is close to our hearts,” said Jerry Dardengo, president of the Victoria Italian Assistance Centre. “It’s about sharing the traditions we grew up with and carry on for the next generations.
“And everyone loves an authentic pasta, Italian music, and a game of bocce or foosball.”
Pizza, focaccia, gelato, tiramisu and other treats will also be on hand, the centre said. A display of Italian vehicles will include makes like Vespa, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Lamborghini. Entertainment will feature Michael Mazza and the Mazzarella Band, Angela Burgaretta and the Jagged Roots Band, violinist Julian Vitek, accordionist Ron Sera and opera performances.
The Da Vinci Centre also hosts Italian language classes — for beginners, travellers and advanced learners — an Italian café and card-game sessions.
