Planet Earth Poetry Planet Earth Poetry is celebrating its 30th Season this September! We're a live (and livestreamed) weekly reading series featuring poets from across Canada!

September—June (break in December) We host the LONGEST RUNNING all-poetry open mic in Victoria! The Planet Earth Poetry reading series in Victoria, BC, is a launching pad for the energies of writers and poets. It is a place where words are most important. Coming up this week: we have Jónína Kirton and Susan Musgrave as featured readers with Kyeren Regehr as our host for our final reading of season 30 before our summer break.

Our Friday June 5 reading is at Russell Books in downtown Victoria, AND livestreamed on Zoom. Doors open at 7 pm (and open-mic sign up soon after that). The live event starts at 7:30 pm, with the Zoom livestream starting approximately 8 pm.

Join us TONIGHT>> Friday May 29, at Russell Books to enjoy the poetry of featured poets Kath Healing and Scott Jackshaw as well as an all q***r open mic. Doors at 7 pm, featured readers start at 8 pm. The evening will be hosted by Melanie Siebert.

Kath Healing (they/them) is a q***r, trans, and disabled poet based in Victoria, British Columbia. Their work appears in The Malahat Review, PRISM international, The Fiddlehead, Grain, Contemporary Verse 2, Plenitude, Augur, and Pulp Literature. They won the 2025 Victoria Writers’ Society Poetry Contest.

Scott Jackshaw is a poet, scholar, and editor from Edmonton, based in Providence, Rhode Island. Their debut poetry collection is Stigmata (Talonbooks, 2025). They hold a PhD in English from Brown University and work as managing editor of differences: A Journal of Feminist Cultural Studies.

Scott Jackshaw will be reading at New Horizons Centre in James Bay this Friday, May 29 at 2:00pm. The event is being hosted by Allegra Kaplan. Doors and open mic sign up are at 1:30 pm. They will be reading at Russell Books for our evening reading as well.
