Artist Statement
Painting is more than producing a combination of lines, shapes, and colors on a two-dimensional surface. It is one way in which people communicate their vision of life, joy, sorrow, anxieties, and beliefs. Artists are able to bring a clearer insight to this task than most people and can convey their vision ably by means of a sure technique. They seem to understand the essential nature of what they see - whether this be a human face, a tranquil landscape, a dramatic scene or a piece of fruit - more profoundly than the rest of us, and they feel an irresistible urge to convey this understanding in a pattern of color and form. Such is the genius of the truly creative painter that his or her work becomes more than merely a statement of personal reactions. When a painting is a work of art it takes on a meaning, life, and vitality of its own regardless of whether it is realistic or abstract.

Biography
​Jim Wispinski is a long time TCAC member and valued volunteer, and is integral to our monthly gallery installations. He has been a professional artist and art educator for most of his life, and works in a broad variety of techniques from pen and ink to highly detailed watercolours. Jim will be in the gallery several times throughout the exhibit, watch our website and socials for more details. The next time you're on your way to the library, grab a beverage at Esquimalt Roasting Company and enjoy Jim's exhibit!
