It’s swallow season! Swallows are my favourite birds (I have one tattooed on my ankle.) I love watching them swoop playfully around fields and ponds, watching their iridescent backs flash blue and violet. This pattern has been sitting in the backlog for a long time but I’ve been enjoying it as the background screen on my iPad! Trying to get back into sharing some of my work slowly. 😅

I drew this ages ago (cute but the scale is off) and now it makes me feel SO NOSTALGIC! I wore him until it was almost ridiculous and his legs hung down to my knees, but I loved seeing the world together, holding his wee hand, and seeing his little happy leg kicks.

Funnily enough, I didn’t spend much time at this beautiful city park before Freddie. I love pointing out flower varieties or watching birds or bumble bees. Our repeat visits help me notice the subtle change of seasons and the changes in nature — the peacocks in full plume, the herons nesting, the next batch of spring blooms emerging. He has so much wonder and delight and I love how much he loves “flowlers”, as he calls them. During daffodil season he peeked into every one and declared “no bumble bee inside.” He picked out some bright yellow ge**er daisies at the corner shop for his birthday and was so proud. 💛
