Moses Musici, the founder of “Cultured Crew” first connected with Thomas Workshop last year when the two found themselves on the same festival lineup in the Yukon, and quickly learned their tastes in a range of deep, jacking, soulful house music were very much aligned. With his Victoria roots and connections to The Downbeat, he knew he had to make this show happen.  Moses will take the opening spot—we love having such an experienced selector warm up the room—with Downbeat resident, Audiofox in direct support.  Please come boogie with us for this special engagement.

We love this lineup.  Big Body is gracing us with a 2.5 hour opening set- showing his range- and celebrating his booking at this year’s Bass Coast Festival- a perfect fit for this dance floor aficionado.  We’re been looking to get Pablo Gun on a lineup ever since a few of his b***y bass and breaks informed techno mixes came across our desk.  It’s gonna be a treat to have him shut it down- and warming it up for Pablo Gun will be DJ Oz, who’s life and career has been music and fashion- and his sets of late have been hitting just the right notes.  Come join us in the dance!

After a great deal of deliberation and reflection Nightjar has decided to cancel our upcoming June 19th show. This decision was spurred by feedback we received about the significance of the Juneteenth date, and was not made lightly. While we understand it may be disappointing, this decision was made in consideration of personal capacity on behalf of the Organizer, timeline constraints, and the psychological safety of all involved.

Nightjar is in conversation with the Black and Here Community Centre and it is our full intention to proceed with a benefit show to support the important work this organization is initiating in our local community. However, more time is needed to devote the appropriate attention to relationship building, emotional and administrative labour, and to ensure this support can be as materially effective as possible.

We look forward to sharing further details with you in the future about this ongoing project. In the meantime, those of you who purchased presale tickets have been refunded. If you experience any issues receiving your refund, please connect with us and we will do our best to resolve the issue.

We are supremely excited to welcome low key international DJ superstar Eddie C to The Downbeat for the first time.  He has released an impressive array of music across a wide spectrum of labels including Razor-N-Tape, Karat, Crue-L, Sleazy Beats, Jiscomusic and Lumberjacks in Hell.  Eddie has recently toured Asia then a quick stop in Detroit.   We have seen him on posters in past year with DJ Harvey and Bepe Loda.  He has just launched his new label, Disko Universal while still pouring out edits on Red Motorbike.  Don’t sleep, as this will be a special night, pairing him with Victoria house music legend Mr. Moe for a deep dive into both selectors crates.  This one is for the dancers.  We’d love to see you.
