40K 11th Ed Tournament-Legal Ork Terrain | First 6 Pieces

A closer look at the first six functionally complete pieces of Orkton, a Blood Axe Village.

This Short shows the terrain with models in place, simple lighting working, and the 40K 11th Edition tournament-legal footprints doing exactly what they are supposed to do.

The goal is to keep the rules clear while still making the table look like an actual Ork settlement instead of a collection of anonymous terrain blocks.

Six pieces down. Ten to go.

40K 11th Ed Legal Terrain That Actually Moves | Orkton

The first six pieces of Orkton, a Blood Axe Village are functionally complete.

This Short shows how the terrain features lift away from the standardized 40K 11th Edition footprints so models can move through the area during gameplay—while the scenery still gets to look substantial, Orky, and properly overengineered.

Simple lighting, removable terrain, and tournament-legal footprints: this is the basic idea behind WHammertronics.

Can Ork Terrain Be 40K 11th Ed. Legal? | Building Orkton

In this build video, I start work on Orkton, a Blood Axe Village—an 16-piece Warhammer 40,000 terrain set designed around the new 11th Edition tournament-legal terrain footprints.

This first episode covers the first six pieces: template preparation, masonite bases, missile launchers, ammo dumps, removable terrain features for gameplay, first-pass painting, Ork checks and markings, and the first proper look at the set with models in place.

The goal is simple: keep the terrain 40K 11th Ed. legal without giving up the creativity, personality, and ridiculous engineering that makes Ork scenery fun.

You’ll also meet Kruk Stonetoof Nuzgrub and Skeeter Snarkfitter—the actual models from my 1998 Canadian Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournament army—now dragged back into service almost thirty years later.

Their intercepted story is available at knebl.ca.

This project is also my first serious exploration of WHammertronics: terrain built using genuine Games Workshop components, with lighting, movement, sound, electronics, and gameplay all designed together rather than added as an afterthought.

And yes, the video ends with me doing something unusual:
complimenting Games Workshop.

More Orkton is coming.

Attached is the lore story that was written to go along with the build. The video is an Imperial Report about finding a mysterious vault that was uncovered by a major seismic event (~15min).

If you wish to see how it was built, you can take a peek a this video on our YTube channel (~60min).
