In this weeks newletter, we shared our top Beehive knitting patterns for beginners. Whether you're picking up needles for the first time, or teaching a loved one the ways of the craft, here are some ideas to get you started.
🔥The Beginner Knit Cowl is our number one recommendation for very beginners. This free pattern will teach you the very basics - casting on, joining in the round, knit stitch, and bind off. We love this in Nepal from Garnstudio DROPS design, a lovely wool-alpaca blend that's soft, easy to work with, and budget friendly for those first experimental stitches.
🍂 A small step up is the Classic Ribbed Scarf, a cozy winter accessory worked in wide rib. Rib is a great stitch pattern to learn how to purl and is widely used to prevent the edges of knitwear from rolling. We knit the Classic Ribbed Scarf in Berroco Yarn Ultra Alpaca, another wool-alpaca blend that gives a beautiful drape to this scarf.
🪵The Trusty Toque is one of our favourite patterns, no matter your skill level and introduces new techniques including increasing/decreasing and knitting small circumferences. This pattern is available in a top-down and bottom-up version and is written for six weights of yarn, but we particularly love it in Peruvian for a colourful, hardwearing accessory.
