Help us send Nadia to England!

Pacific Opera Victoria chorus member and administrative staff member Nadia Lurie is heading to the UK to pursue her Master of Music in Voice Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, and you can help her get there!

Join Nadia on Saturday, August 29 at 2:30 pm at the Baumann Centre for a special fundraising recital, with Kimberley-Ann Bartczak at the piano. Enjoy an afternoon of song, followed by tea and a few treats, while supporting Nadia as she takes this exciting next step in her musical journey.

The recital takes place at the Baumann Centre, 925 Balmoral Road. Tickets are $35, and you can RSVP and purchase tickets by contacting Nadia at [email protected]

For more than 26 years, Aldo has shared his love of music with listeners across Greater Victoria through CFUV 101.9 FM. As he prepares to host his final broadcast, we want to thank him for the countless ways he has championed opera and supported Pacific Opera Victoria over the years.

Through An Afternoon at the Opera and Off the Beaten Track, Aldo has welcomed our artists to the studio, highlighted our productions, and introduced audiences to the music and stories behind each season. His enthusiasm, generosity, and genuine love of opera have made him a treasured friend of our company and our community.

Thank you, Aldo, for every interview, every broadcast, and every conversation. While this marks the end of your radio career, we know we'll still be seeing you in the audience for many seasons to come. Congratulations on an extraordinary 26 years at CFUV, and thank you for being such a wonderful advocate for opera in Victoria.

From parks and plazas to libraries, museums and neighbourhood streets, Pop Up Opera brought live music to communities across Greater Victoria once again this summer.

Thank you to everyone who paused to listen, applauded, and shared these unexpected musical moments with us. Your enthusiasm reminds us how special it is to encounter opera where you least expect it.

Our sincere thanks to Abby Corpus, Tim Carter, Michaela Dickey, Louis Dillon, Nadia Lurie, and Carter Martin for bringing this year's Pop Up Opera to life.

A Night of Music at Deep Cove Winery

Many of our audiences will recognize tenor Clayton Butler from the Pacific Opera Victoria Chorus, Pop Up Opera, and as a Living Opera Teaching Artist. On July 29, we're pleased to support Clayton as he raises funds for his second year of graduate studies at Codarts in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Joined by special guests Benjamin Butterfield and Robert Holliston, Clayton will present an evening of art song and opera favourites at Deep Cove Winery. We're proud to see him continue his studies and wish him every success in this next chapter.
