The Drake Eatery tonight 9:30 to 11:30 NO COVER

The Vanguards - The Thought of Losing Your Love was a big one for me. A gateway to all the heavy, and tough funk coming out of the Midwest. This Endeavors leans into that moody group harmony paired with heavy syncopated drums that is familiar to The Vanguards. I'm excited to play stuff like this paired with the funkier side of the Garden City Soul Club crates. Come say hi 👋

Nothing but Rhythm and Blues at The Drake Eatery
tonight

Here's an important one to me. The first copy came from a trade that I was very grateful to be a part of. The second was found in the wild near Thetis Lake a couple months later. It was cracked so I went to the "ol' tape the other side and hope for the best". Seems to be ok so far, and some records are worth saving!

Little Willie John had a crazy life and death. It would take a long time to talk about. I'm always blown away with the urgency of vocals and how he phrases lyrics. His uniqueness shines in the crucial RnB recording and I'm very proud to have it as a GCSC staple

Ted Taylor - Somebody's Always trying / Top Of The World

Getting re-acquainted with the GCSC play box and sharing the hits you'll hear at DOWNBEAT.VIC on September 12th. Rhythm and Blues is always near and dear to me, so this is an all-time favorite. The grit, urgency, and enigmatic vocals all make this an absolute dance floor burner on our floor and many, many others

Here's one from the play box that always comes to mind when people ask what type of music gets played at SOUL night. A heavy rhythmic feel paired with some super infectious horns makes for the high energy 60s club sound that always seems to pack the floor.

Hear this and many, many top tunes September 12th at the DOWNBEAT.VIC
