ABOUT FREY’S ANGUISH
Many people live with daily reminders of the love and assurance of parents, friends, and the gentle evidence of a cared-for existence. Sometimes we learn that reminders come with conditions. On a university campus, a group of student activists discover the conflict between their ambition to change society, and the barriers to their success. Frey’s Anguish is a tale of the paths we choose or fall into, toward personal and sexual awareness. As a controversial international meeting approaches, the group rallies their idealism and sense of justice, to oppose it. They hit the wall of social order and the power of the state.

STAGE MANAGER WANTED
Now that we are about to stride into a new year, do you ever think you were born too late in history? That you would have loved to be with Hannibal on his elephant trek to Rome? Not for the warfare, but for the experience of traveling and not worrying about doing the driving yourself. We don’t have time travel (yet), but you have an opportunity to do something now that doesn’t require elephant skill.
Join the production of Frey’s Anguish! A play aiming for staging at the end of March. An honorarium will be paid. Cast is ready. Contact Alan Segal at [email protected]

Frey's Anguish is finished resting! The play's script is being developed, with a more evolved role for one of the main characters. At the same time the script is being substantially expanded and adapted into a screenplay. Intriguing possibilities are ahead.

Everything is moving along on my new project, the play “Frey’s Anguish”. The play is cast, and will be filmed next month. The setting is an unnamed university, in an unnamed city, in an unnamed country. The play gradually reveals inherent conflicts, both internal and external; between perceptions of truth and purpose, between a desire to be consequential in society--a builder of a better civilization--and the reality of turning idealism into substance, and between action based on goals of justice, and actions that are entrenched in the institutions of power.

Introducing Kelsey Launier as 'Reva'. Kelsey fell in love with theatre at a young age when she was cast as the angel in her school play. Since then, she's pursued her love by studying at TRU in Kamloops before moving to the island. There, she's gone through three years at the Canadian College of Performing Arts, having just graduated this year. You may have seen her as Constance in Goodnight Desdemona Good Morning Juliet, or among the ensemble during this last year over livestream from the college. She's excited to be a part of this production, and to be keeping the art of theatre alive in a safe and healthy way.
