Powerhouse Theatre Vernon's Community Theatre. Always looking for new people to come and experience the magic of making theatre happen. Costume Bank is open 4pm - 7pm on Thursdays.

You don't necessarily need experience - we'll show you the ropes! We are encouraging you to enter the world of live theatre by becoming a member of the Powerhouse. We have a lot of fun creating and producing our shows for Vernon. It's an experience that is hard to explain in a few words, but once you have felt the camaraderie and joy of taking a script to opening night, it's not something you will

easily forget. Acting on stage is the visible result of the performance... putting the show together takes many, many people and= hundreds of hours to get there. We need set constructors, costume people, poster designers, ushers, back stage helpers, the list goes on and on. Our crew custom-built a massive, many-legged marvel specifically for this stage 🐛⚙️ You’ll have to see him puffing away in person to believe it! 👋💨

🎭 Meet the Cast of Alice in Wunderland

Amy Bell as March Hare
Amy is thrilled to be a part of another Powerhouse production. She was most recently on our stage in the production of The Play That Goes Wrong, and before that the Ozone winning Radium Girls. She is excited to turn things on upside down with this unique take on Alice. Are you mad enough to join her
for tea?

Matt Jackson as Knave
Matt is a local business owner, a past elementary educator, father to 3 amazing daughters (and two fur babies Gus and Ruby), and a first timer to local theatre. He admits to feeling like a fish out of water but
looks forward to the challenge, growth, camaraderie and shared experience of telling stories through theatre.

Michelle Johnson as Red Queen
A graduate of Studio 58 in Vancouver, BC, she now resides in Vernon, where she teaches Performing Arts at an elementary school and enjoys yoga and paddleboarding in her free time. Michelle is thrilled to be joining the Powerhouse Theatre for the first time as the Red Queen. Previously she’s worked with Red Dot and Run Away Moon Theatre.

Jordan Donatelli as Tweedles
Jordan returns to the Powerhouse Theatre stage for his fourth production, bravely taking on the highly questionable responsibility of playing both Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee in Alice in Wunderland. This marks the first time he’s been paid in confusion and nonsense simultaneously. When not arguing with himself on stage, Jordan enjoys music, creative projects, and generally causing "harmless" mischief wherever imagination is welcome.

🎭 Meet the Cast of Alice in Wunderland

Wyatt Randell as Knocker and Cheshire Cat
Wyatt has always had a passion for theatre ever since he was young. This will be a first play for him. He is very happy to be playing the Cheshire Cat and feels the character is mysterious, yet always connected to those around him. This makes Wyatt relate to the Cheshire Cat. Wyatt also enjoys science and drama classes at school, and he loves learning new things.

Julia Martel Weinman as Cheshire Cat
Julia is excited to be one of three puppeteers and voices for the Cheshire cat. She has performed as Mary Cratchit in A Christmas Carol at O’Keefe ranch, and has been singing with the Okanagan young voices society since 2020.

Ama Nishihara as Cheshire Cat
This is Ama's first experience acting. Having brought puppets to life since toddlerhood, this production combines her favorite things, puppetry and cats! She grew up with Lewis Carroll's books and it thrills her to be a part of this adaptation of Alice! Ama's passions include reading, crafting, dancing, music, animals (especially cats!) and finding mossy spots in the woods.

Sharilyn Poole as Mad Hatter
Alice in Wunderland is Sharilyn’s 8th show with the Powerhouse since 2024. She has worked behind the curtain as a stage manager, crew member, and assistant puppet maker (allegedly). She is so excited to work with so many new faces, some human, some puppet, and to bring a new spin to a well-known character to life. Favourite M-words include: modicum, minging, and of course, Muchness!
