Northern Country Girls Drill Team

Northern Country Girls Drill Team An equestrian drill team is a group of horses and riders performing choreographed maneuvers to music.

Teams typically perform at rodeos, horse fairs, parades, benefits, and drill team competitions. Drill teams are intended to entertain, show sportsmanship, horsemanship, team work and dedication. Competition drill at the national level is a controlled ride and has continuous forward motion. Some competition venues have set up special divisions of competition to provide for novice, rodeo, youth, gai

ted and special effects (as allowed at the venue) such as theme and drama. Theme drill provides a division that allows teams to showcase their uniforms, horse ability, music, and inclusions of trick riding or other variations.

It's that time again! The Northern Country Girls are having tryouts for this upcoming seasons team. We will have three outside judges, Elaine Hill, Clay Gull, and Candace Biers, who will be taking note of horse and rider ability as they complete the posted pattern (see below). There's lots of improvements going into our third year as a team, and we can't wait to get everyone pumped up for the season to come.

This coming year is packed with lots of events and opportunities for the team ahead, from rodeo performances, opening ceremonies, glow in the dark routines, and we're hoping to end the year with a bang at the Mane Event!

Tryouts will be held at the Nechako Valley Exhibition grounds on December 10th at 6:30pm. Don't forget to come out a little early to get your horses warmed up.

Keep in mind, this pattern can be done at whatever speed you and your horse are comfortable at. When switching leads, a simple lead change will be just as exceptionally scored as a flying lead change will be. The great thing about drill is everyone grows and improves with their horse along the way!

Pattern: You will begin in the middle of the arena. 1)Beginning on the right lead, complete three circles to the right; the first circle small and slow; the next two large and fast. 2) Switch leads in the middle and carry on to the left. 3) Complete three circles to the left; the first small and slow; the next two large and fast. Stop in the middle. 4) complete four spins to the right. Stop. 5) Complete four spins to the left. Stop. 6)Pick up left lead and continue around circle. At the top of the circle, run down the middle to the far end marker, stop and rollback-no hesitation 7)Run up the middle to the opposite end of the arena, stop and back up to the center. Finish.
(We will have someone demonstrate if anyone is confused)

We hope to see lots of new faces out!

Any questions, feel free to give Aubree (250)567-2819 or Courtney (250)570-9083 a call/text. You can also message us on here!
